Mac is not Windows
I'm very disappointed with the look and feel of 1password 8. To put it simply: It looks like a Windows app now. That is not a compliment.
The OS/X platform has a different, and very rich, history when it comes to UX versus Windows' own (arguably rich, perhaps) history.
When I open 1password now, I feel like I'm looking at a Windows app that has been ported over to Mac. You know how you open up something like settings in Windows, and the window is absurdly large? And the controls are huge? And even though the settings app is by default occupying 80% of my 42" monitor, the layout is so poor I still have to scroll to see things? That's the feel I'm getting. :(
Mostly, I like the 1password 7 UX over version 8 (not entirely). I can see some nice improvements but for now, I'm going back to version 7.
A few of the things I really don't like:
1. Search behavior is utterly broken. I'll never remember to click (cmd)(enter) to get what I want.
2. Everything is too spaced out, which means I have to scroll when I shouldn't have to scroll.
3. I feel like I'm looking at a bunch of "idiot lights," for instance, the new watchtower layout – again, it was concise and utilitarian. Now I have to look at a poorly laid out screen, scroll a bit, and take in / process meaningless visual overload.
4. I can no longer navigate by keyboard (eg., in 7, I could go to watchtower and "down arrow" through each item – now I have to do multiple clicks to review everything).
5. It's a pain in the arse in a multiuser environment because everything goes into my private vault by default. That's just wrong. I should go into my shared vault by default. Can't believe you took this feature (setting a default vault) away...
6. In general... more clicks needed to do the same work versus 7. For instance, in 7 my vault/account was under a single control. Click on it, I can switch vaults, it's always there. Now I have two buttons, one for my account and one for vaults. The account button offers a bunch of things that I might use like, maybe, once every few years (manage accounts... etc.) and there's more wasted space going to a new vaults button. In general I'd say this is the 8.0 trend... add more stuff, even though overall there is less functionality.
Hoping 8.0 makes some good progress. In the meantime please keep 7.x alive and well. I don't see myself switching any time soon, you've got a long ways to go here.

+1 on the OP. I really hate the new search behavior, it is contrary to everything Mac. I'm pretty sure it's contrary to the Apple UX design guidelines too. Specifically, why doesn't it behave like every other search bar, specifically, if I type something like "snark" and press enter I would expect to see the search results that match "snark" – instead, I get... something totally different. I never remember I have to press (cmd)(enter) to get what I want because no other app works this way and it's contrary to... everything. Please fix it. This, combined with the annoying "feature" that all new items are saved to my private vault have me going back to version 7.

+10 on this thread, especially the search behavior (it's horrible – unusable, even, and contrary to every other app which means I'll never remember I have to press (cmd)(enter) the first time, so I am literally frustrated every single time I use 1password 8). Also totally agree with the first comment. The app now looks like a Windows app. That is not a compliment. Please get your Mac mojo back.
