Have been running the beta, installed release version, now it won't open because I ran newer version
I've been running the beta, most recently 8.8. I thought it would be smart to install the new release version, which apparently is 8.7. But 8.7 won't open because it says I've been running a newer version on this computer. I decided to reinstall the beta, which it turns out you can only do from inside 1Password, which I now can't open. I tried uninstalling 1Password and reinstalling the release version, but it still says I've been running a newer version. I'm stuck. Help!

Hey @jweitzman:
Thank you for trying the beta version of 1Password 8 for Mac. This issue can occur if you've used the nightly version of 1Password 8 and then tried to switch to the beta or production version. The nightly version uses an updated database format that isn't yet compatible with the beta or production version. The following steps will reset 1Password 8's data on your Mac so that 1Password 8 can download a fresh copy of your data from 1Password.com
- Log in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com (in the browser, not the app).
- Verify that you can see all of your items in the browser. If there is anything missing then stop here and let me know.
- Download and save the Emergency Kit for your account: Get to know your Emergency Kit
- Reset 1Password 8 for Mac by opening terminal and then running the following command:
mv /Users/MACUSERACCOUNT/Library/Group\ Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.1password/Library/Application\ Support/1Password/Data/1password.sqlite /Users/MACUSERACCOUNT/Library/Group\ Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.1password/Library/Application\ Support/1Password/Data/1password-old.sqlite
** Replace MACUSERACCOUNT with the name of your Mac user profile in both places in the command **

- Add your 1Password account back to the 1Password for Mac app.
Let me know if that helps or if you run into any issues. 😊

Do you have a support id? Can you share it? The following should get you going.
- Make sure you have your Emergency Kit and know your account password and all data is contained on 1Password.com.
- Quit 1Password and all browser for good measure. Right-click 1Password in the menu bar (If it's there) and click Quit.
Open Finder, and click the Go menu > Go to Folder...
In the box that appears, copy and paste the following exactly:~/Library/Group Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.1password/Library/Application Support/1Password/
Press Return.
You'll see a folder called
Data
– right-click on the folder and select Compress "Data".- Drag the original
Data
folder to the Trash. - Wait a few moments and then open 1Password 8. You'll be taken through the setup process.
