1PW Extension for Safari wants to........do everything it seems!
After countless problems I had with the Safari 1PW extension in the past I turned everything to do with 1PW off, primarily because of the damn autofill box popping up and obscuring website dialogue boxes that I wanted to complete. Whether it's any better now or not I don't know but having just upgraded to 1PW 8 (that I can't say is THAT aesthetically pleasing, may just be because it's new / different) so I decided to give it another go.
I have to confess I have zero idea how these extensions work but I was quite surprised with the catalogue of things that the 1PW extension wanted to do with a few tabs I had open (read, alter and a few more), it's reminiscent of the crappy Chinese apps you often have to install on phones that work with a smart bulb just to turn on a light. It only needs to turn a bloody light on but the app wants 27 other permissions that result in it, and the bulb, getting binned. So what is it with the "1PW for Safari wants to..........". What is it that it essentially NEEDS, not wants?
1Password Version: 8
Extension Version: 7.0
OS Version: Mac OS 12.4 / Safari 15.5

Hi @Chevalier:
Great question. You can see a bit about our browser permissions that we request here: About 1Password browser permissions
In short, because 1Password for Safari needs the ability to "read" and modify the page to determine what needs to be filled and then perform the filling, it needs the permissions to read and alter the pages you're viewing.
