Touch ID on Macbook Pro not working after upgrade for 1P7 to 1P8
hi all,
After upgrading from 1P7 to 1P8 (and changing my Mac user password do not recall what triggered it) the fingerprint unlock does not work anymore in 1P8. It does still work in unlocking my mac-useraccount on my mac though. Have re-registered my finger, have turned off-on-off-on the fingerprint recognition in 1P8 which brought no relief. I do get a prompt for doing the finger excersise, in 1P8 and after doing that, it does not recognize my finger "That didn't work Check your password and try again"

Hello @rudivandrunen! 👋
I'm sorry that Touch ID isn't working with 1Password 8 on your Mac. Can you try the following steps in order:
- Completely turn off your Mac and then turn it on to restart it. (Don't skip this step.)
- Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Touch ID.
- Turn off all of the features, then turn all of them back on again.
- Go back to 1Password and choose 1Password > Preferences from the menu bar.
- Click the Security icon, then turn off "Touch ID" and turn it back on again.
- Lock 1Password by choosing 1Password > Lock from the menu bar.
- Now try unlocking 1Password using Touch ID.
For many people just restarting their Mac gets Touch ID working again, if it does for you as well then you can skip the rest of the steps. Let me know if Touch ID still doesn't work after trying this. 🙂

As you see I seem to have (automatically, or just pressed ok one time too may) have updated in the meantime, as my first report was on 8.9.4, The SEGV is on 8.9.8.
Anyways for me TouchID seems not to work, so turned it off for now. Please get back to me to sort this.

I'm sorry to hear that 1Password 8 is crashing on your Mac. I did notice that you're running macOS 12.5 which is a few updates behind, are you able to update to a more recent version of macOS and then try to reproduce the issue again?
If you encounter the same issue even after updating then I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:
Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)
Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to
support+forum@1password.com
. Please also include the crash report that you mentioned. With your email please include:
- A link to this thread: https://1password.community/discussion/135021/touch-id-on-macbook-pro-not-working-after-upgrade-for-1p7-to-1p8
- Your forum username:
rudivandrunen
- Please do not post your diagnostic report to the forum. This is for your privacy and security.
The report will be in zip format. Please send the entire file.
You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!

Thanks for the quick reply again !
I will, over the weekend see if I can upgrade to 12.6.1
In the meantime, I can send you the report on 12.5 if of use. I might not know if I
am able to upgrade as I have some custom software that needs to be validated
on 12.6.1 before I can move on.also: The application (1Password) crashes, so sending diagnostics after having restarted the application, will probably not yield the exact cause of the crash as I had restarted the app, (to create the diag file) and not having a situational dump on at the moment the SEGV occurs. I can (and will) send the apple crashdump instead, ok ?
I will be sending the complete apple crashdump on 12.5 anyways though
Thsnks again, hope to hear soon.

Thank you for the reply. The diagnostics report will contain a log of what happened when the app crashed even if the report is generated after restarting 1Password. And the Apple crash report should be helpful as well.
I see the email that you sent in and one of my colleagues will take a look and reply as soon as they can. 🙂
