Is 1Password 8 The New Evernote?

approximately two years ago, Evernote decided to revamp all of their apps to appear in uniform across multiple platforms. In the process, however, they released applications that should never have gone past beta development.

As I read more of the messages in this forum, a familiar pattern appears to be emerging. Unfortunately.

How is it that show many items can be so wrong simultaneously how is it that so many items can be so wrong at the same time in this app that was released as a “production“ product?

  • Hello southernforge! 👋

I hope that you're having a nice day today. We're always interested in learning more about how 1Password can be made better. Are you running into specific issues that our team hasn't yet helped you address? Can you tell me a little more about what you're finding currently lacking with 1Password for iOS? I would be happy to pass along your feedback to the team. 🙂

  • I’m glad to see many issues were fixed in the latest update but, to be frank, most of these “new” features were things that we already had in 1P7 and were inexplicably removed from 1P8. 1P8 was half baked and rushed. Your paying customers are not beta testers. We shouldn’t have to deal with UX crippling bugs that go unfixed for months and left to wonder what workflow-critical functionality is going to be removed at the next major release.

I feel like this happens whenever a company tries to streamline/unify apps across platforms. Invariably a lot of stuff gets lost in the transition. Apple did this quite a few years ago with iWork when it unified things between the Mac and iOS. It took Apple years to reach feature part parity b/w there old and new versions (and even now, Pages is still missing some features). However, there’s a big difference between iWork and 1Password, iWork is free. AgileBits is still asking their users to pay a monthly fee for software that still feels like a beta (even after they admittedly decent 8.10 update).
