Chrome/macOS: First unlock Touch ID prompts for master password

I've been experiencing this issue for a while. When opening 1Password in Chrome and using Touch ID to unlock, the extension still asks me for my password. If I close the extension and open it again, the 1Password extension becomes unlocked.

Here's a video of the issue happening: https://share.cleanshot.com/B8z7JFxj

It happens reliably every time and really slows me down in my daily work.

1Password Version: 8.10.4
Extension Version: 2.10.0
OS Version: macOS Ventura 13.3.1
Browser:_ Chrome

  • Hello @Macks! 👋

Thank you for posting the screen recording, that behaviour definitely isn't right. As a first step can you try the following:

    1. Close all open web browsers.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password icon at the top of your Mac's screen and then click Quit. Wait until the icon disappears.
    3. Double-click on 1Password from your Mac's Application folder.
    4. Open your web browser.

If that doesn't work then I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:

The report will be in zip format. Please send the entire file.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!

    Hi Dave,

thanks, for now it works, after following your instructions. I actually wasn't using 1Password in menubar. I wonder if it's related to that.

I've still issued a diagnostics report in any case. This is my support ID I received via email: [#RPT-42841-849]

I'll get back to you during the course of next week should the problem resurface.

    Thanks!

    Best,
    Max

  • Thanks, @Macks! I've located the ticket and sent you a reply. Let's continue our conversation over email and I'll close this thread to prevent having the same conversation in two different places. 🙂
