Attempting to log out of my Mac fails with an on-screen message "Your Mac hasn't logged out because "1Password" failed to quit. To continue logging out, quit "1Password"." The on-screen message has options "cancel" and "try again". If I use the 1Password "helper" to completely quit 1Password the log out then completes.

Currently running macOS Ventura 13.4 on iMac retina 5K 27-inch 2019, and using 1Password for Mac 8.10.7 81007041 (from Mac App Store) with current subscription to 1Password for Families.

    This really only started happening for me within the past two weeks, perhaps with the last update to 1Password. Any idea what caused this or how to fix it?

    I can confirm, I've experienced this on both of my machines, both M-Series MacBook Pros. If I can provide any additional info, just let me know.

    @chazzunokuthunuchtec

    I don't have access to your diagnostics report here on the public forum and it's best to continue the conversation over in the email thread that you have open with our support team.

    However, it looks like the issue has been filed with our development team to investigate further. When, or if, the issue is resolved a fix will be included in an update to 1Password. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

    Is there a setting to change that will allow the nightly shut down to happen without my having to close iPassword by hand first?

    When I return to my sleeping MacBook Air 13", a message appears indicating the system was unable to log out due to 1Password not quitting. When I check to see if 1Password is still running, it's not. I have 2 options on the message, 1 Cancel 2 Try Again. Try again and it does succeed, requiring my password to log in. This is so annoying and I'd appreciate help. Thanks

    I found that if I remove 1Password from the "Menu Bar" in 1Password settings my system will shut down.

  • @Glenn62

    Thank you for sharing. Hopefully our developers are able to release a permanent fix soon.

    I also have this problem. It seems to have been raised for the first time on June 1. Is a solution yet available?

    @JimH

    I'm sorry that you're also running into the issue. Our developers are working on a fix and we hope to release it as soon as possible.

    In the meantime, if you right click on the 1Password icon from the macOS menu bar and then click Quit you'll be able to shutdown the Mac without experiencing the pop up.
