I also cannot get Touch ID to work on my MacAir. I’ve installed 1Password and tried to follow the directions however when I click on Security I cannot see anything that allows me to turn on TouchID

Hello @ruchalaatearthlink! 👋
I'm sorry that you're having trouble using Touch ID on your Macbook Air. Have you already turned on Touch ID to unlock the Macbook itself? Please see this guide:
Once Touch ID is turned on the for the Mac itself please follow these steps in the 1Password desktop app:
- Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
- Click on 1Password next to the in the menu bar.
- Click on Settings.
- Click on Security.
- Turn on Touch ID.
If that still doesn't work then let me know if you're at least able to unlock the Macbook itself using Touch ID and I can help further.

Yes, I can use Touch ID to unlock the MacBook and on all the other accounts I have on the machine. I did step 1. Re step 2: the only place I see a 1password icon is next to the search bar, I do not see an Apple icon except next to the Safari menu bar. Re step 3: I did click on the 1 Password icon next to the search bar and then clicked on Settings and then on Security. Re: step 5 - once I clicked on Security, I could not find a place to turn on Touch ID. Hope this description of what I did helps.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like you've installed the 1Password extension for Safari but not the desktop app. Is that correct? If it is then you'll need to also install the desktop app since it gives 1Password the ability to use Touch ID on your Mac:
Once you've installed 1Password for Mac, and added your account, you can follow the 5 steps in my previous post to turn on Touch ID unlock.
If that doesn't work, or if you already have the desktop app installed and setup, then please let me know.
