  • I seem to be asked to enter the password to open 1Password much more frequently than in the past (I think it was every 2 weeks)
  • You can only edit an item by opening the 1Password app and not in the chrome extension

are these known issues?

  • Hello @amleach! 👋

Thank you for reaching out. I'll respond below:

I seem to be asked to enter the password to open 1Password much more frequently than in the past (I think it was every 2 weeks)

If you're using Touch ID or Apple Watch unlock, you can change how often you're asked for your account password by following these steps:

    1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
    2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click Security.
    5. Change "Require password" to the desired value.

You can also adjust your auto-lock preferences: How to set 1Password to lock automatically

Let me know if that doesn't help.

You can only edit an item by opening the 1Password app and not in the chrome extension

This is by design at the moment. Choosing to Edit an item in the browser will open the desktop app, or 1Password.com if you don't have the desktop app installed, and you can edit your item there. Once you save your changes you'll see them appear in 1Password in the browser.

Sorry but I don't see a "Require password" option in Settings -> Security for MacOS 8.10.40 as shown in this screenshot.

Also, even though I have TouchID and Apple Watch configured correctly in MacOS I'm unable to select either option in the same settings panel.

Thank you for the screenshots. Since Touch ID and Apple Watch unlock are both turned off for 1Password it's normal that you wouldn't see the "Require password" setting. I see that your auto-lock setting is set for 5 minutes which means that you'll be prompted for your account password every time that you Mac is idle for at least that amount of time.

The checkboxes for Touch ID and Apple Watch unlock being greyed out can be caused by a variety of different reasons. As a first step try the following steps:

    1. Completely turn off your Mac and then turn it on to restart it. (Don't skip this step.)
    2. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
    3. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Touch ID & Password.
    4. Turn off all of the features, then turn all of them back on again.
    5. Go back to 1Password and choose 1Password > Settings from the menu bar.
    6. Click the Security icon, then turn on "Touch ID".
    7. Lock 1Password by choosing 1Password > Lock from the menu bar.
    8. Now try unlocking 1Password using Touch ID.

Does that allow you to turn on Touch ID unlock? If it doesn't then, so that I can advise further, I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:
