Saving of Passkeys Not Available on MacOS Sequoia 15.0.1
New MacOS update to Sequoia 15.0.1 has added Apple Password app to the computer and 1Password is not able to be set as default for passkeys and new items to be sent to. I have troubleshooted this with Apple Support and opened an Apple Support ticket. Additionally, part of the trouble shooting performed was uninstalling and reinstalling the 1Password application and additionally attempting to use 1Password 7 available in the Apple App Store.

Hello @tyrannosoares! 👋
Thank you for reaching out! 1Password doesn't use the "Autofill & Passwords" feature in macOS System Settings so you won't see it listed there. Instead you can fill and save logins using either 1Password in the browser (our browser extension) or using Universal Autofill:
If you don't see 1Password in Safari then try the steps in this article: If you don't see the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar
Let me know if that doesn't work. 🙂

I'm sorry that you're seeing an error message when you try to save a passkey. Make sure that the built-in passkey manager is completely turned off:
- Click on the Apple icon in the menu bar.
- Click System Settings.
- Click General, and then AutoFill & Passwords.
- Turn off "AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys".
Then in your browser, make sure that 1Password is the default password manager:
- Open your browser.
- Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
- Make sure that "Make 1Password the default password manager in this browser" is turned on.
Then try to save a passkey again. If you see the same error message then which browser are you using?

@Dave_1P I take it from the responses on this specific issue on MacOS, 1Password has no plans to eventually integrate into the OS using the API has in place in an update down the road?
I just recently started using 1Password prior to Apple's introduction of the Passwords app and this is quite an elegant setup as it is preferable to be able to integrate within the entire OS as opposed on a per browser basis as you are suggesting in the response above. There are apps that require you to sign into their systems and this is not triggering in the said field often especially when there is a 2FA code or passkey.
I would like to know if there are plans to address this down the road and integrate as I will make my decision at the time of renewal if I want to continue with 1Password or move over to the Passwords app that Apple is providing now.

Thanks for reaching out. 1Password doesn't use the macOS AutoFill system and instead you can fill your logins (including 2FA one-time password) in any browser or Mac app by using Universal Autofill:
What specific apps (non-browser) on your Mac currently require a passkey to sign in? I can pass along your feedback and request to the team as a feature request. 🙂

Hey Dave,
The Discord mac app, when setup with a passkey, requires this functionality.

Thank you, I've shared that with the team.
For the time being, you can sign into the Discord app using your password or, if you'd like to use a passkey saved in 1Password, you can choose the QR code option when signing into Discord and scan the QR code with the camera app on your mobile device to sign in using your saved passkey in 1Password.

Thanks, Dave, I assumed that would work, but a full integration would be preferred.
