Filling and unlock issues with 1Password for Safari on macOS 15.1
I've been using 1P for probably 10 years, and until the last few months, haven't had any big complaints. However, on macOS (currently on Sequoia 15.1), the 1P Safari extension is a piece of unreliable garbage. So much so that I now can't use Safari, and use Vivaldi (where it is pretty reliable).
Most of the Safari on macOS issues are around unlocking 1P and auto-fill. Today I just fired up Safari, clicked on the 1P icon in the tool bar, and had to wait about 45-60 seconds for it to unlock. A blank 1P mini browser window opened with a little white spinner for 45-60 seconds. Also, even when 1P does unlock, autofill in Safari is trash. While I see the mini 1P lock icon, it is extremely unreliable on whether it will actually detect the proper URL and fill in my credentials.
I know I'm not alone with these problems, as for months I've seen numerous complaints on Twitter/X about the same 1P Safari issues that I'm having. It seems like 1P has deprioritized making their browser extensions actually work. I do get random issues with Vivaldi on macOS, but they are less severe.
What can I do to fix the broken 1P Safari extension? I'm SO frustrated with 1P/Safari that I'm actively investigating Proton Pass as my new password manager.
1Password Version: 8.10.52
Extension Version: 8.10.52.25
OS Version: macOS 15.1
Browser: Safari

Hello @TravelSD! 👋
I'm sorry that you're running into issues when using 1Password for Safari, the behaviour that you've described is definitely not normal. So that I can better understand the situation, and check to see if you're running into issues that our development team is already working on, can you tell me the following:
- How many times have you run into the spinner when unlocking 1Password for Safari? Does this issue happen regularly or rarely?
- Do you use any profiles in Safari? If you do then how many profiles do you use?
- On which websites did you run into filling issues? Can you reproduce the issue on those websites or does the issue occur randomly?
I look forward to hearing from you.

@Dave_1P Since I rarely use Safari because 1P is so terrible, I can't say how often it breaks. Whenever I do test the waters with Safari some aspect of 1P is broken. Be it unlocking or auto-fill. It's broken way more often than it works.
Yes I do have mutliple Safari profiles. I have two. A primary and a home network profile.
I don't recall which sites have filling issues, as 1P is so unreliable that I now can't use Safari.Example: I'm on chase.com in Safari. I see the little 1P lock icon in the username field. I frantically click on the 1P icon on the form and nothing happens.
