Upgraded to V4 on Mac Mini OS 10.8.5. Installation appeared to go OK, upgraded all browser ext's and deleted old ones. Am using data file on dropbox. Login items appear in browser extension but neither Safari or firefox or Chrome will fill in PW and user info. I have reinstalled, Uninstall using Clean my mac, restarted, another uninstall and reinstall. 1Password will open all looks normal but I cannot get it to fill on any website.

I must go back to V3.8 until issue resolved, V4 is of no use as is.

Help!

PS: previous version 3.8 purchased from Agilbits web site, V4 from Apple App store

  • Hi there,

Do you use any anti-malware solution like Sophos, proxy, VPN, filtering like GlimmerBlocker or anything like that?

Something's preventing the 1Password mini from communicating back to the browser extension to fill in. Once we figure out what that is on your Mac, it should resolve all of the issues with the extension.

One other item unrelated to this post. Kudos on iOS 4, I love it especially the browser!!

Seems totally random here with no anti virus or the like. Some pages fill PW and Username. Some one or the other. Some nothing. Some launch anew window if I use cmd+alt+. Some don't. Used to be much more consistent. Not liking this upgrade one bit at the moment which is a shame.

    This worked for me:

If 1Password isn't filling any data and you have Sophos (or any proxy, VPN, and anti-malware) installed, Sophos can block the communication between 1Password mini and your browser. [Workaround]: Open Sophos Preferences, go to Web Protection > Allowed Websites, and click +. Add 127.0.0.1 and restart your browser, 1Password should work now.

Thanks for letting us know that's what fixed your problem, @whbunn@gmail.com.

I'm sorry you've been having trouble with the upgrade, @RDH. We're still trying to help you resolve any remaining issues that you've posted about in other topics.

I just noticed a site that with 1Password version 3 worked fine and would auto-fill, but with version 4 it would not. So I ended up having to save a new login for the site, and now everything works great.

    Hi @macman,

Thanks for passing along that tip - sometimes the easiest thing to do is just save a fresh new login :)

With respect, this really isn't the answer. There is an issue with 1password4 not filling in webpage login information created by 1Password 3 which needs to be addressed by developers.

Per this reply from agilebits' roustem, I switched from Firefox to Safari as my default browser and "Open and fill" began working correctly with 1PW4.

I am using Safari V6.0.5 and I am now finding that (a) open and fill will not work for any passwords created by 1PW3 and (b) will work once for passwords created by 1PW4. For example, I have just tried to open this forum and 1PW4 takes me to the correct sign in page but will not fill. I am beginning to think that downloading 1PW4 Beta may be the problem. Grateful for any advice on how to clean my system entirely without deleting the data file.

Update. Having looked a discussion on another thread I have now run http://i.agilebits.com/kyle/tools/1PasswordAutosubmit.pkg and with a computer re-start this seems to have solved the problem for now. This has not been the smoothest of software roll outs.

My excitement got the better of me. Having shut 1PW4 down, and re-opened it, I am now back to the situation where passwords created by 1PW3 will not open/fill. This is becoming rather tiresome. I shall be interested to see how the new Apple ICloud Keychain performs. Sorry guys, I know that you have put a lot of time and effort into this release.

The suggestion of whbunn@gmail (add 127.0.0.1 to the allowed websites in Sophos) worked for me. What I can't figure out though, is why the developers obviously overlooked this after so many beta testing. And they should have known that antivirus and firewalls often are the cause of problems.

Bless you! That fixed it for me, looks like. I had tried rebooting and reinstalling Safari extension with no luck.

(Context: I deleted 1P v4 MAS and downloaded the web version of 1P4, and while my syncing and missing attachments were fixed, 1P would not fill in logins in Safari.)

  • Hi guys,

Thanks for the updates, I'm glad you got it resolved with Sophos.

    @Brischinsky:

What I can't figure out though, is why the developers obviously overlooked this after so many beta testing. And they should have known that antivirus and firewalls often are the cause of problems.

Unfortunately, it's not something that we can fix on our side. We do have a built-in check in the extension that if it cannot connect, it should prompt the user. The issue is that it's a very basic check, it can't connect, tell the users about it. However, tools like Sophos modifies the connection, not just block it outright, so the extension can connect to mini but not the other way around. So that's a very difficult thing to check against. What we're doing now, is checking for known anti-virus processes in our Diagnostic Tool, which will let us know if the user is running any known apps that interferes with 1Password.

Predicting the next question, the sandboxing in the Mac App Store version doesn't allow us to check for those processes in real-time, so that we can notify the users about the potential issues. We're investigating for better ways to handle this.

As for beta testers, a very small number of 20K beta testers reported this. The number of Mac users using such tools are also very small, compared to Windows.

@Hengus, please email us for private support, it looks like there's something specific to your Mac that's interfering with 1Password. The fact that it worked once and then stopped working suggests that. First, generate the report mentioned here, include the link to this thread in that same email to us and we'll get you fixed up and running.
