1Password Anywhere does not accept the Master Password

Hi,

I bought the 1password4 for mac and iphone and have synced to both icloud and dropbox. When trying to login to the 'anywhere' wepage on dropbox, it errors out saying 'Incorrect Password'. I am certain I'm entering the correct password. The password is rather simple with alphabets/digits and few usual special chars. I saw few other users complaining about this and their problem randomly getting fixed. Is there a work around?

    Hi @gaurav,

1PasswordAnywhere does not always behave well with special characters, so we recommend using only ASCII characters in your Master Password. Can you please try changing your Master Password and then see if 1PasswordAnywhere accepts it? Let us know how it goes.

    Hello!

I am having a very strange issue. I just changed my master password (making it stronger) and when I tried logging into 1passwordanywhere it was still using my old password.

I sync via Dropbox and am accessing 1passwordanywhere directly from my dropbox. It turns out that I have a couple of folders with similar names and would like to know which one I can delete - "1Password.agilekeychain" and "Password.agilekeychain".

The folder that starts with the "1" has older info (and the .html uses my old master password), while the folder without the "1" has two htmls - "1Password.html" and "1Password (1).html" (as though the original had been copied). The file without the (1) opens fine with my new master password, but I can't try the other one (it does not open like an html when I click on it, which is strange).

What do you recommend? Is there a way to wipe out all info on dropbox and sync it all brand new from my computer?

Thanks for your help and a great product!!!

    Regards,

    Rodo

    Hi @Rodo,

Thanks for providing such a detailed write-up of your situation. The easiest way to get this sorted out is to simply clear out Dropbox and have 1Password create a shiny new 1Password.agilekeychain file. Here's how to do that:

    • On your iOS devices (if you have 1Password installed), open 1Password 4 for iOS, tap Settings > Sync, and toggle Dropbox to OFF.

    • On the Mac, open 1Password 4 for Mac, and click the 1Password menu, then Preferences. Click Sync, and click Change syncing.

    • Check the box to remove the data from Dropbox and confirm that you want to disable sync.

    • Restart the Mac and iOS devices.

    • Check your Dropbox folder and delete any other 1Password folders or files that the remove data checkbox did not take care of.

    • On the Mac, go back to the Sync preferences, and click Dropbox. Click Choose vault, then navigate to your Dropbox folder and select Open. This will regenerate a 1Password folder in Dropbox, and that will contain a new 1Password.agilekeychain file.

    • Allow Dropbox to fully sync.

    • Go back into the iOS app and re-enable Dropbox sync.

This should allow you to access 1Password Anywhere with your new Master Password.
