Save as new login keeps popping up
Hi, I am on 1Password 4.1.2 using Firefox 26.0 running on Mavericks. Each time I login to a site the "Save as new login" keeps popping up. The login info has been saved many times but the popups won't stop.
I really love 1Password and hope to fix this, thanks in advance

Does it help if you go to Preferences > Browser and uncheck Automatically ask to save new Logins?

It does stop it from popping up. Too bad it needs to be shut off though, I like the option of saving "new" logins. Thanks

Hi @teabag416,
I'm glad that @Stephen_C's suggestion helped! To remove specific sites from the 'Ask to save' list, simply add the URL to the list below the 'Automatically ask to Save new Logins' checkbox in Preferences.
You will also see a reduced incidence of this if you use the 1Password Mini to open and fill the pages for you. :)

Both of you are addressing the symptom and not the actual problem.
I'm having the same problem as @teabag416. I am using 1password mini / browser extension together to fill logins, and then 1password asks me to save the login it just filled for me.

@camflan, maybe the reason we're addressing the symptom is because following what was suggested completely fixed the problem for me! I'm not sure why it doesn't for you - or how your problem differs from that described which is apparently fixed. Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

Hi @camflan,
I'm sorry to hear that this is a problem for you. We certainly don't mean to ignore the problem, but as @Stephen_C says, these solutions generally solve things. Could you tell me a bit more about how you are using 1Password Mini to fill Logins? Is this a problem you have on all websites, or are there just a few that are giving you issues? (If there are just a few, please send along some URLs so that we can do some testing on our end!)
The more details we know about your situation, the more quickly we'll be able to find a solution for you!

@steven - if you just disable 1password from offering to save logins, then when you login for the first time on a website, it won't ask you to save it. This is not the functionality that 1password has offered for me since version 1. If I log in to a site for the first time, of course I want 1password to ask me to save it. However, I don't want 1password asking me to save a login that it just filled for me. Why would I need to re-save the login that I just used, via 1password?
I meant that solving the symptom - in this case, 1password asking to save a login - wasn't solving the actual underlying issue - 1password is confused on when it should ask to save a login. It should ask when credentials have changed from it's saved data, or when new credentials are used for the first time. Simply removing the dialog from displaying isn't solving the issue and is crippling 1password functionality. Example - you take your car to the dealership and tell them that the car makes a noise when you take a left hand turn. The dealership simply tells you not to take left hand turns. This is solving the symptom, not the problem.
@megan - I use cmd-\ to fill the login, and immediately after 1password fills the form and auto-submits, it pops up a dialog asking me if I want to save that login. This doesn't make any sense to me, as it's already saved.
this happens on all websites starting a couple of weeks ago with an update.

Hi @camflan,
That is odd. I'd like to take a closer look at your system. Could you please send us a Diagnostics Report?
http://learn.agilebits.com/1Password4/diagnostic-report.html
Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@ agilebits .com
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

I think I might know what the issue is here. We recently changed how the autosave logic works to look at the username+password combination instead of just the password field itself. We had a recent report that this would cause problems on login pages that only asked for the password field.
Is it possible you are seeing these unexpected autosave prompts on sites with just password fields? If it is happening on all sites, including those that ask for username, it might be a different issue.

I just wanted to update this thread to mention I found a situation where we would incorrectly show the Save Login window. This was fixed within the browser extension, starting in version 4.2.3. It would be great to know if this made things better for you on all the sites, or if a few sites are still showing the prompt at the wrong time.
