Request for new feature: Medical Records

I would like to see an option to store medical records within 1Password. I see it as part of categories and it can use the same structure as notes, software licenses and credit cards. Each new medical note would be a procedure or office visit. There would be be places to put the basics like date, place and physician but could also record vital statistics, results and reminder date for checkup.

I realized this was a need for myself after visiting the doctor today and I had no idea when I had procedures done and who the doctor was. Having this in 1Password would have been helpful.

I do realize this can be done with Secure Notes and I plan on using it that way. A medical specific category would keep things much cleaner for those with many visits to log.

    Hi @shawnwright,

Thanks so much for taking the time to write in with your suggestions! We've had a lot of great suggestions from users about various categories that they would like to see in 1Password, but I have to say, this one in particular makes a LOT of sense to me. I've had similar experiences at the doctor where they need complex medical histories ... and I have difficulty remember what last Monday's breakfast was.

You're right, Secure Notes is the best place to put this for now. There have been feature requests to add some extra formatting support in Secure Notes to help organize longer bits of data like this, but I'll be sure to pass along your thoughts about a separate medical category to our developers!

    Hi @shawnwright and @megan,

That's exactly what I was looking for as well. Would be the final piece that completes 1Password as a secure vault for your most valuable data.
Perhaps we could use this thread to exchange best practices for using the Secure Notes for this purpose until the feature gets added eventually.

    Thanks,

    Roel

    Hi @roelseegers,

Thanks for adding your vote here - I'll be sure to let the developers know you are keen on this feature as well.

And please do keep the feedback coming, if you have any ideas on how to keep things organized within Secure Notes right now, we'd love to hear about it :)

I use Secure Notes for this and it's been great. I also use Secure Notes for:

    • A list of everything in my wallet (that way, if my wallet is lost I know exactly what needs to be replaced)
    • Investment info
    • Some of my kids' college info etc.
    • A list of things that are automatically charged on my credit card (that way, if the card is lost/stolen/replaced, I know exactly what I need to change)
    • My car info such as its key, radio and navigation system codes
    • The amount I give in tips to my letter carrier, garbage men etc

Thanks for some great examples of your Secure Notes usage, @RMSko. This one makes me chuckle:

The amount I give in tips to my letter carrier, garbage men etc

    :)

Storing image attachments in addition to text can be handy, too.

Hah re the tips. It's really just my Xmas tip amounts, but I agree it's still funny. I just don't remember year to year how much I gave and now 1Password will tell me - hah!

How many Christmases went by before realizing "gee, it would be handy keeping a record of that tip amount information"? :)

Seems like one of those simple ideas that could be easy to overlook until enough repetition makes it obvious.
