problems still existing in 4.1.3 that are hopefully fixed in 4.2

  1. There still are significant problems in saving updated passwords. Sometimes they're updated correctly -- but sometimes the old password is still kept. I've reported this issue earlier.

  2. This is a minor issue, but I'm wondering how 1Password tallies how often items are used. Does this occur whether the main app, the 1Password mini app, or the Safari plug-in is used? Of 806 items, 1Password reports that only one is used very often, two "infrequently," and the rest "rarely" -- but that simply cannot be! What are the frequency differences used for the categorization?

    Thanks for the reminder. :)

I don't believe we've published any data on this, so I honestly don't have a definite answer here. What I suspect happens though is when the browser extension fills the item a tally for that item is updated with a datestamp. I'm not sure however what constitutes "very often" vs "infrequently" vs "rarely." I personally only had one item in the former category, with most items falling into "rarely" or "not available."

I wish I had more solid information to share but unfortunately that is all I know at this point.

    Thanks!

Maybe you could check with the developers? I know that it's a minor feature. Perhaps the frequencies associated with different labels could be set by the user.

    Hi @odysseus

I've done just that. The answer is that there is no fixed number. 1Password calculates how many times the most frequently used item has been used (say 100 times) and then splits by 5 to get the various categories of frequency. So if the top item was used 100 times then items used 80-100 times are used Very Often, 60-79 are used Often, 40-59 are used Sometimes, 20-39 are used Infrequently and 1-19 times are used Rarely.

So, the short answer is, it is all relative, and completely dependent on your personal usage. Your "very often" items may be used much more or much less than my "very often" items.

    I hope that helps.

And the frequencies are tabulated whatever the context, i.e. when using the 1P Safari extension, as well as when using the 1P app?

  • When the login is used (filled). Technically only the browser extension fills logins. Viewing and editing don't count, only filling does.

    Thanks.

Again, it might be useful if the user were given some control over the histogram.

  • We do appreciate the feedback, and will take that into consideration. We do very much try to avoid "preference creep" however, so there is a pretty high bar something must cross before it is added as a preference.

    Thanks.
