Multiple Device Cross Platform Sync Set-up: HELP!!! pretty please.
Perhaps I am attempting the impossible. I hope not.
Between my wife and I we have 2 Macs, 1 PC, 2 iPhones, and 1 iPad I want to share one data file for all these devices.
Currently we have 3 different data files: 1 on my iMac, 1 on her MacBook and 1 on her PC. I attempted, unsuccessfully, to merge my iMac file with a copy of the PC's data file. So I'd like to figure that out first. The instuctions I saw inline showed a dialog box giving me the option to merge, but I have not been able to get that dialog box to show up.
I am also having syncing issues as outlined below:
I have poured over the help and forums and I believe I am following all instructions, but I am having not luck. Here's where I am:
iMac (Josh- me), 1Password 4 installed. Dropbox account set up with shared folder called "1Password" which contains "1Password.agilekeychain". This is the main data set I want to use (and would like to merge all other data into).
PC (Jenn - my wife), 1Password 1.0.9 installed. Her own Dropbox account installed which includes the shared folder above.
These two computers seem to sync just fine. I deliberately used 2 different Dropbox accounts because mine has nearly 70GB of data that I did not want to sync to her PC. Thus the shared folder option seemed better.
I just tried to sync to my iPhone and got an Error Code 714 "No 1Password data found in Dropbox." So I need to solve that.
I have not attempted to sync with the other iPhone or iPad. I figured one thing at a time…

Hi Josh ( @waterknot ),
I'd be glad to help you sort out all the issues with what you're attempting to do:
… I want to share one data file for all these devices.
With the right combination of sharing and syncing it's probably impossible not to accomplish that. :)
First I've got a few questions about your current setup. Initially you wrote:
I attempted, unsuccessfully, to merge my iMac file with a copy of the PC's data file. So I'd like to figure that out first.
Then later:
These two computers [iMac & PC] seem to sync just fine.
If syncing is working between those systems which 1Password data still needs to be merged there?
How is syncing specifically configured on each of your systems/devices right now? Sounds like it might only be Dropbox on the iMac and PC but I'd rather not assume. :)
Do you only have one vault in 1Password 4 on both the iMac and MacBook?
Are there any other Agile Keychains in Dropbox besides Dropbox/1Password.agilekeychain?
It's okay that you and your wife both use the same Master Password?
I deliberately used 2 different Dropbox accounts because mine has nearly 70GB of data that I did not want to sync to her PC. Thus the shared folder option seemed better.
Configuring Selective Sync on her PC would let her select specific folders to be synced there.
I just tried to sync to my iPhone and got an Error Code 714 "No 1Password data found in Dropbox." So I need to solve that.
Indeed. That relates to earlier questions about syncing.
I have not attempted to sync with the other iPhone or iPad. I figured one thing at a time…
Which brings up the final question: Is there any 1Password data on any iOS devices that needs to be preserved?
Thanks in advance for the answers to help ensure none of your data will be lost during any of the reconfiguration steps that come next. I look forward to hearing from you again and moving forward with this!
