One Macbook Pro, two iPads, two iPhone 5c
What is the best sequence in setting up iCloud, Keychain, Dropbox, and 1Password4 (and iPassword for iOS, if required?
After purchase of 1Password 4 for Mac, must I then purchase a 1Password for IOS for the four other devices?
Am a 72 year old non techie and need all the help I can get.

Also have a wide variety of passwords (real weak mess) from years of PC stumbling around. Should this mess be cleaned up (change passwords) prior to beginning my well designed Apple password storage and protection system?

You will need to buy 1PW for iOS as well as 1PW for Mac. You will only need one copy of 1PW for all your iPads and iPhones.
You won't want to set up both iCloud and Dropbox, but can choose which you prefer.

Hi @JerryWeeks,
Thanks for your interest in 1Password! Let's start with a basic overview and please do ask followup questions later. :)
For your MacBook Pro:
Purchase 1Password 4 for Mac, either a license (directly from AgileBits) or the application (directly from Apple, which doesn't require a separate license). Both are available through our Agile Online Store.
Installation and setup instructions start here:
Configure either iCloud or Dropbox syncing. Here are guides for doing that:
I suggest taking some time to get familiar and comfortable with using 1Password on your Mac before moving on to getting 1Password for iOS.
For your iPad and iPhones:
- Purchase 1Password for iOS (just once) directly from Apple. There's a link for it on the same Agile Online Store page as our other software.
You can install 1Password for iOS on all of your devices by using the same Apple ID on all of them, as explained in:
Choose one device to start with, then refer to this guide:
Let's start having fun with 1Password!
You'll want to select I’ve used 1Password before because you've already configured iCloud or Dropbox syncing earlier in 1Password on your Mac.
What to do next depends on which syncing method you're using. Here are guides for iCloud and Dropbox:
Then you're ready to start using and exploring 1Password for iOS, which has documentation here:
I suggest first getting familiar and comfortable with it on one of your iOS devices before setting up the others.
Now, about your "real weak mess" of passwords from days gone by. It would probably work well to postpone the cleanup at least until after you have 1Password 4 installed on your MacBook Pro, which you can then use as a tool to assist with that cleanup.
That's a good point to stop for now, hopefully covering what you'll need for getting started. Please feel free to ask additional questions as you're looking over any of that information.
We'll be here to help at any step along the way during your new journey with 1Password! :)

Trying to get some clarity on this post.
If you have multiple OSX devices (lets say an iMac and a MacBookAir (MBA))
you purchase one (1) 1P4 for the two OSX machinesWhat if the same scenario, but there are two separate users of the OSX devices (one user of the iMac, one user of the MBA)
You purchase two (2) 1P4's for the two machines, one for each user?0 -
@woj027 - you have accurately summarized the license issues for the Macs. If you are the only user, you need one license for all the machines on the same platform that you use. A second user creates the need for a second license. Of that second user is in the same family, a family license from the AgileBits web store is the way to go.
One other wrinkle - if you and a second user share the same AppleID, one purchase is sufficient for both.
If you need to use it on Windows, that requires another license because it' same different platform. AgileBits sells bundles for Mac users who also need to use it on Windows too.
And, for the sake of completeness, if you want to use 1password on iOS devices, each user needs to make a separate purchase for the mobile devices. If you share the same AppleID, one purchase will server everyone on that ID.

Thanks for the update. I found the Family License info in the store purchasing page.
So in my case (slightly different from above) we have 3 macs (OSX) and 5 iOS devices (3 unique itunes/appleid's)
So I can purchase the Family (5 devices) and 3 iOS apps.0
