Problems resetting 1Password 4
I have 2 Macs, and two iOS devices all syncing to the same default keychain via Dropbox. Everything was working fine. I accidentally imported a family keychain into my default 1Password keychain on one of the Macs by double clicking on it. In order to keep the accidental changes from propagating, I disabled sync on the affected machine. I then attempted to reset 1Password on that machine by completely uninstalling 1Password using AppDelete. I installed clean from the App Store.
When I launched 1Password, everything seemed fine. I got the setup wizard, and it found my primary keychain in Dropbox as expected. I resized the main window, made a few tweaks in preferences, and quit 1Password. Subsequent launches of 1Password present the first run screen, and when I continue past that first screen, 1Password launches without the remaining setup screens. It doesn't remember any of the preference changes, although it does open the keychain properly. This happens every launch.
So I tried to reset 1Password using the instructions in the FAQ. However, there are no plist files in Preferences on this machine. No agile plist files exist on the other Macintosh either, so it appears they are no longer used, or their location or name is different from the documentation. This would seem to be a simple process, but it's not working.

Hi @kastorff,
I'm sorry you're having trouble resetting 1Password 4 after the accidental keychain merging. After your first attempt using AppDelete and reinstallation did you use the instructions in the starting over guide for 1Password 4 when the application wasn't working properly? We don't recommended using uninstaller/cleaner tools like AppDelete to remove 1Password files because of the risk of removing required data and backups.
So we can get a closer look at the current state of 1Password on that first Mac, please send us a Diagnostics Report, along with a link to this topic, to support+forum@agilebits.com. A brief comment here mentioning that you've sent the report would also be helpful.
Once we see the report we'll be able to better assist you get this sorted out . Thanks in advance!

I did another complete uninstall and reinstall. No change. Still had the prefs not saving issue. Repaired permissions on the startup volume and restarted the machine. Problem fixed. First time ever repairing permissions actually helped a known issue.
