Bug: 1PasswordMini generated password converts to login without the website URL
I was in Chrome's incognito mode when I unexpectedly had to create a password for the website. Instead of manually creating the Login entry for that website, I usually find it is easier to just visit their site in Chrome and upon submitting the login form 1P will capture the details and auto-convert the generated password entry into a Login one. It did so, but left the app://agilebits
as the website
field.
- Generate a password with 1Password Mini
- Use that password to authenticate to a website
- Observe that the
website
field of the new Login entry isapp://
not the website's URL

Hi @mdaniel,
I haven't been able to reproduce this yet and have a few questions about how it's happening for you:
In step 1, which application was active when you generated a password in 1Password mini?
In step 2, did you select
Copy
in mini's Password Generator to copy the password and paste it into a field on a page in Chrome? Or did you selectFill
in Password Generator to fill the field? Or something else? Was the web page open in an Incognito window, and is the Allow in in incognito option enabled or disabled for the 1Password extension?
Finally, which version of the 1Password extension are you using?
Thanks in advance for that additional information!

- It was in Chrome (Version 35.0.1916.114 beta)
- I selected Copy
- As specified, I was in incognito mode and no, I do not allow any extensions in incognito mode
The extension version is 4.1.1.90
If you can't reproduce it then I'll work on making a reproducible test case next time this occurs; I just thought I had stumbled upon an edge case but maybe it was that the stars were not in alignment for me.
apologies for the delay, I was expecting the forum to notify me but I must not have enabled that option

Hi @mdaniel,
Here's something close to what I think is happening:
- Open a site login form page in a Chrome incognito window, with the Allow in in incognito option disabled for the 1Password extension.
- Open 1Password mini, go to the Password Generator, and select
Copy
for the password field. A Password item like this is created:
However, it doesn't contain any username or website fields so they'll also be missing on the Login item after using
Convert to Login
. And 1Password doesn't prompt to autosave with the extension's Allow in incognito option disabled.I'm not sure where
app://agilebits
is coming from in your case. Is that the full URL that's in thewebsite
field? Are you certain a Chrome window (incognito or not) is active when selectingCopy
in 1Password mini's Password Generator?Your forum notifications can be adjusted on the Notification Preferences page. No worries for the delay. :)
