I see there was another discussion, but it's closed now, and I'm having the same problem. I actually discovered it a while ago ... My devices (MacBook Air, iPhone 5 and iPad) quit syncing with DropBox.

In order to help others to help you please let us know the version numbers of:
    1. your OS X and iOS;
    2. your 1P4 for OS X; and
    3. your 1P4 for iOS.

    Hi @shaunb,

Thanks for that version information. Here are a few basic things to check first regarding Dropbox, before moving on to more serious troubleshooting:

    • Please ensure that Dropbox is installed and running on your computer
    • Check that you are logged in with the same account on all computers and devices
    • Confirm that Dropbox sync is selected in 1Password > Preferences > Sync on your Mac
    • Confirm that Dropbox is selected in Settings > Sync on your iOS devices (and that all devices are pointing at the same keychain)

If all of those items check out, let's run a test to see where things are getting tripped up:

    • Create a test item on your Mac ("Test, Mac") and add some data
    • Create a test item on each of your iOS devices ("Test, iPhone/iPad") and add some data
    • Does "Test for Mac" show up on either of your iOS devices?
    • Does "Test for iPhone" and/or "Test for iPad" show up on your Mac?
    • Log in to the Dropbox website and click on the 1Password.html file inside your 1Password.agilekeychain folder
    • Enter your Master Password
    • Do any of your test items show up in your database here?

Please let us know the results of that little experiment. Once we have a better idea of where things are going sideways we should be able to get this straightened out for you. :)

Only the 'Test Mac' items shows up.

    Hi @shaunb,

    Let's try resetting Dropbox sync:

    • On your iOS devices, open 1Password 4 for iOS, tap Settings > Sync > Sync Service and choose 'Disable Sync’.

    • On the Mac, open 1Password 4 for Mac, and click the 1Password menu, then Preferences. Click Sync, and click Change syncing.

    • Check the box to remove the data from Dropbox and confirm that you want to disable sync.

    • Restart the Mac and iOS devices.

    • Check your Dropbox folder and delete any other 1Password folders or files that the remove data checkbox did not take care of.

    • On the Mac, go back to the Sync preferences, and click Dropbox. Click Choose vault, then navigate to your Dropbox folder and select Open. This will regenerate a 1Password folder in Dropbox, and that will contain a new 1Password.agilekeychain file.

    • Allow Dropbox to fully sync.

    • Go back into the iOS app and re-enable Dropbox sync. That should get everything on the same page for sure.

I tried to follow your directions but when I open Dropbox, tap settings>sync there is no option to 'disable sync'. My initial problem was that I couldn't log onto Ebay from my laptop as the password had not been updated on it. Why, I don't know. I was logged on my home computer (which is now off as I travel) yesterday using 1 PW but today my laptop can't log in. My iPhone has an old PW as well, as it looks like it isn't updating. Plus I now have two DropBox logins on my laptop the second of which I never created as far as I know. I tried syncing and got a warning not to merge vaults or something. I've never created another vault and SO confused right now that I'm almost in a panic. Sorry for hijacking the initial thread but trying to sift through volumes of topics and discussions is not helping me fix my issue.

    Hi @DaveO,

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having trouble here.

when I open Dropbox, tap settings>sync there is no option to 'disable sync'.

Disabling sync is something that is done from 1Password 4 for iOS, not the Dropbox app. If you are looking at the Settings > Sync pane of 1Password 4 for iOS, and you do not have an option to disable sync, it sounds to me like sync might not be fully set up.

Now, in order to ensure I'm giving you the best instructions to get back on track, I'll need to know a little bit more about your 1Password ecosystem:

    • What are the version numbers of 1Password and your operating system for all computers and devices running 1Password?

The more detail you can provide, the more quickly we'll be able to get you sorted out! :)

When I open PW4 on iOS and click sync, all i see is "Start Syncing" under the Primary Vault heading. Under all that it say "Items".
My iPhone is up to date using 7.1.2
    PW4 version 4.5.3
    MacBook Air running 10.9.3
    iMac running 10.8.5
both Macs have PW4 version 4.4.1
I can't seem to get both Macs to sync to Dropbox. My MacBook Air says it synced a few minutes ago. When I try to sync my iMac, it wants me to create a new Vault.

Here's some more info. On my MacBook, I click "1 Password 4">"Preferences">"Sync" it shows me the sync path and tells me when it last synced.
On my iMac i choose the same path, but when I click "Sync" it gives me a choice between iCloud, Dropbox and Folder. If I click Dropbox it asks me to choose a Dropbox folder. I have no idea what that is or where it is on my computer. My iMac PW4 has 218 items, Air has 209 and iPhone has 216 items.

    Hi @DaveO,

Thanks for those additional details. We'd like to take a closer look at your systems to determine where Dropbox syncing is getting tangled up and suggest the best way to fix it. Please start by sending us a Diagnostics Report from both of your Macs, along with a link to this topic and your forum username, to support+forum@agilebits.com. A brief comment here mentioning that you've sent the reports would also be helpful so we can keep an eye open for them. :)

I have sent reports from both Macs and my phone. I did forget to include the link to this topic but got close with the title of the thread. Thanks for any and all help.

I am having precisely this same problem syncing with Dropbox, including the "Start Syncing" instead of "Sync Service" pick. When I try to "Start Syncing", I get a choice of methods (Dropbox, iCloud, Wifi) and when I pick "Dropbox" I see the 1Password vault name. But apparently syncing for 1Password stopped working last April, and things are out of sync, and I'm only given a choice of merging (which is not recommended) and doing nothing. Which hardly helps at all. How about a choice of treating the newer vault (which in my case is on my iMac) as the correct one and downloading it in place of whatever is on my IOS device? I have 3 IOS devices, an iPhone and two iPads, and all are showing this problem. I'm using 1Password 4.5.3 and IOS 7.1.1 on the iPhone, and IOS 7.1 on the iPads.

This syncing stuff seems very fragile and difficult to solve, and I am no neophyte when it comes to using and managing computers. But this is at least the second time that syncing has stopped working for me with 1Password, and it never seems simple to restore operation.

Would syncing with iCloud work any better? Or would I see the same issue?

On my iPhone, I erased the settings and restarted syncing, and now I see the "Sync Service" menu item as shown above. So I think the answer to my issue is to start over on all my iDevices. Syncing is working now on the iPhone.

    Hi @khelliwell‌

I'm so glad to hear that you got things sorted out. Starting fresh with your iOS devices was exactly what I was going to suggest - I'm sorry that we didn't get to you in time to be of any assistance though.

I am new here, and did not know how to start the topic. I read the instruction how to sync a new 1P4 to drop box, using the sync for the first time, pointing to drop box. But I migrated from 1p3 and the sync is showing to 1Password.agilekeychain HD. Do I transfer all the files from HD to drop box, and stop and start sync in the preferences?

Never mind, I found how to do it.
