They simplified the licence by the looks of it.

    Quoting that link:

You, your spouse and your two children living in the same household use 1Password, each on their own Mac.
You can all share a single license.

Looks like your licence just got cheaper

They have redone all their license terms according to my reading. You can read about all possible combinations here.

As I read this, it looks like you would have the same terms for both Mac and Windows if you buy the bundle.

  • Hi guys,

That's correct, we've just simplified our licensing model by matching Apple's family sharing licensing mopdel. The single license can now be shared up to 6 family members in the same household.

Yes, it applies to both Mac and Windows but it doesn't include the mobile apps, that's sold by separate companies such as Apple and Google. You'll need to refer to their licensing policy.

On iOS, you can use it on any iOS devices but each family member needs to purchase the in-app purchase separately. Right now, Apple does not support in-app purchases via Family Sharing. If you and your wife uses the same AppleID account, then you only need to purchase it once.

Hi, I am a new user of 1Password. I have just bought 1password in the Mac App store, and on my iphone i have bought the pro version. We have just last month separated our accounts to Family Sharing, I just found out here that with the new in-app purchase model we can not share the pro version together on our iphones in our family. (Our family is two adults with both iphone and ipad, and 1 Mac)
Will there be a fix or workaround for this? Or am I stuck to buy 2 pro versions for iOS?

Apple is the source of the decision not to include in app purchases in family sharing. Alas, unless they change that policy, you will indeed need to purchase two separate upgrades to the pro version.

    Hi @Antal Hendrix van Spronsen‌,

I hope that @hawkmoth's answer was useful! I just wanted to apologize for the trouble here. We had fully planned to support Family Sharing with 1Password 5 for iOS - we even had documentation written up about it. We hope that Apple decides to include In-App Purchases in Family Sharing in the future, but for now, each user will have to purchase the Pro features, if the free version isn't quite robust enough.

I'm sorry I don't have a perfect answer for you here, but I hope this helps!

Sorry, I feel a bit dense. My original 1P3 purchase was through Agilebits. 1P4 and 5 have been through the App Store, both Mac and iOS Versions.
I now want to install 1P5 on my wife's computer (have done this successfully) but I'm not sure how to license it. Can anyone point me in that direction?

@lfriedla - There is no license with the Mac App Store version. Apple controls the license by associating the downloaded copy with the Apple ID used to purchase it. So you don't have to do anything other than install it to have a licensed copy. I think I understand from your post that you have already installed it on your wife's computer. That's all you need to do.

    Hi @lfriedla,

The answer from @hawkmoth is spot on - if you installed 1Password from the Mac App Store on your wife's Mac, you're all set and don't need to worry about the license.

On the other hand, if you installed the website version of 1Password on your wife's Mac, the free trial will expire after 30 days and it will ask you to add your license file (which you won't have unless you purchased a license for version 4 or 5 from our web store). So if you installed the website version on your wife's Mac, you will want to install the Mac App Store version instead. Simply launch the Mac App Store on her Mac, sign in with the Apple ID you used to make the purchase, and install 1Password from the Purchases section.

If you have more questions about that, we're here for you. Happy New Year!

Or set up Family Sharing with you and your wife in the family group.
