Weird Licensing issue, and duplicate 1password instances...

Hi there, been using 1password for many months now, and love it. However, I seem to have lost my licensing information.

I have tried your automatic password retrieval system, (yes, using the password I bought it with) and it's showing not in existence. I purchased both the Mac and the IOS version through the App Store, but suddenly noticed TRIAL EXPIRED showing in my version.

I'm pretty sure it's just a glitch somewhere, and it would seem I have 4.x and 5.x installed on this machine too... but I'm afraid to delete one or the other and reinstall until I have my license numbers back in hand.

Can you great people in Toronto help? Love that you are Canadian!!!

Terry

    Hi @tmsmith,

I sincerely apologize for the trouble here! We've been hearing about this from a few users, and it's a bit bizarre, because the Mac App Store doesn't have a trial, and your license details are tied directly to your AppleID (so you won't see anything in our webstore customer centre).

    Please try this:

    • Open 1Password.
    • Click the 1Password menu, hold down the Control key, and select Quit 1Password and 1Password mini.
    • Restart the Mac.
    • Relaunch 1Password.

If that doesn't solve things, please let me know and we'll investigate further.

    (Also, hello from Toronto!!) :)

Hi Megan, well I thought it was fixed but it wasn't. My app is now saying my trial has expired (well it has been for a while, but now it's getting testy), and it won't let me edit stuff etc. Again, was bought off the App Store, so not sure what I'm supposed to do! Should I try and reinstall from the App Store, and start afresh? Please offer some of your remarkable suggestions!

    Hi @tmsmith‌

If you were to drag the 1Password application to your Trash and download a fresh copy from Apple's Mac App Store then it won't harm your data. If you have any concerns though you can ease this by copying a backup file somewhere safe.

Open 1Password and enter 1Password's preferences. Switch to the Backup tab and click the Show Files button. That will open a Finder window and you can copy the latest backup to your desktop. No matter what you can restore your vault(s) from that backup.

Let us know how you get along. If you've been running the Agile Web Store version and we're having to move you over to the MAS version you may find you need to tweak the preferences to you again as well as set up syncing. We can help with whatever might happen though.

Ok! Figured it out... on my laptop I somehow switched to the Agilebits version, instead of the MAS version. I turned it all off, and installed it through the MAS and that's that.

I think it happened because you call your version 1Password5 - and they just callout 1Password - so I may have upgraded unknowingly...

    ANYWAY... thanks!!!
