Frustrated with 1Password, multiple vaults and different versions for different devices

I originally purchased a family license for 1Password so that my family could use it as a secure vault for all of our passwords and share them with each other across multiple devices. The Vault feature in particular got our attention, because it would allow us to create a primary 'Shared' vault that we all use, and then individual vaults for each user. Sounded like EXACTLY what we needed.

But that's not what we got after spending the money for a family license, premium versions of the apps (my wife is on iPhone, I'm on Android), and then a Windows license for our HTPC so we can also use it there. In short when using multiple vaults, 1Password is completely useless the way we want to use it.

We share a single keychain across Dropbox, but because only the iOS versions support multiple vaults, some of us (like myself) can't even get at the contents of the vault we created for ourselves. This is crappy, and it's been this way for about a year while I've been waiting for at least Android to have multiple vault support. I've seen release after release for cool new things on iOS, yet the Android and Windows apps remain dated and lacking critical functionality to make them usable. I can't imagine that I'm the only customer that wants to use your product cross-device, cross-platform.

Is there any true ETA to get the Android and Windows versions feature parity with the OS X and iOS versions? I'm tired of waiting and doing workarounds for this. I really love the app on my Mac, but I need it everywhere now, and so does my family. Should I abandon any hope here and just jump off and try LastPass instead?

Frustrated.

Hi @jrotondo‌ I'm sorry to hear you're frustrated. Unfortunately I can't offer an ETA for feature parity, all I can say is that is the goal.

As you're using Dropbox you can always access any of your vaults in a read-only state via 1PasswordAnywhere. Saying that, you shouldn't need to do so for multiple vault support under Windows. While it doesn't work in quite the same way as iOS or mac, Windows can access multiple vaults by switching between them or at least that is my understanding. I'm just testing that statement out or will do so as soon as the virtual machine copy of Windows 7 finally loads.

Is there a 1PasswordAnywhere for Android? I can't see any means of switching vaults within the app, and it's becoming a dealbreaker for me. Help?

    Hi @jrotondo,

I can appreciate your frustration at not being able to access multiple vaults on Android. My colleagues on the Android team use multiple vaults - I myself have five vaults that I share with various family members - so we are eager to implement multiple vault support in 1Password on Android. We are currently working very hard on internal updates that will allow us to support this feature, but unfortunately, I can't give a timeline for when this will be ready for production use.

In the meantime, I wouldn't recommend trying to use 1PasswordAnywhere on Android. It wasn't really designed with the constraints of mobile browsers in mind, so it would make a poor substitute for our native app. The best suggestion that I can offer for now is to sync 1Password 4 on your Android device with the vault that you will need to access the most. And keep an eye on our betas, as that's where multiple support will appear first once we're ready to begin beta testing.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if I can help with anything else!
