I have been a Wallet user on my MacBook Pros and iPhones, but am considering a switch to 1Password. How can I import Wallet's contents into 1Password?

There's a recent thread here about importing from Wallet. You'll see that the forum's import expert, @MrC, still awaits more information from the original poster in that thread. If you could provide that information I'm sure @MrC could help you.

A fellow user, @MrC, has created a unified converter for new users who are migrating from other applications. There is a very long thread about that here: MrC's Convert to 1Password Utility

I am not sure of the status of the converters, so you'll need to check out the thread and see whether your application is covered.

I don't yet have a converter for Acrylic's Wallet. I was awaiting a reply to my questions from the first poster here:

Maybe @cbheart is able to answer them here.

Hi, I tried the link above that @cbheart posted regarding converting from Acrylic's Wallet to 1Password. It's not working for me. I cannot save as a UTF-8 in Excel.
In the bigger picture, is there an easier method, or a converter available yet? This is all very messy. Please help.
    I'm using 1Password version 5.1 for Mac
    Acrylic Wallet version 3.3

    Hi @JohnJuniper,

It sounds like you were trying to follow the steps in this post. If so, it says to save it as a text file in Excel. After that, the steps are to open the text file in Text Wrangler and then save it as UTF-8. Does that help?

Also, have you tried the steps in this post (which is the next post in that thread, and the one @MrC linked to)?

In the bigger picture, is there an easier method, or a converter available yet? This is all very messy. Please help.

It can certainly be tricky getting information from one password manager to another, as they each store data in different formats. If you haven't already seen it, we have some information about importing in this knowledgebase article: Importing your data

If you're able to export your Acrylic Wallet data to a CSV file, you'll definitely want to check out this article as well: Advanced import: creating CSV files

Does that help? If you're still having trouble, please let us know.

    Hi @JohnJuniper and others,

I took a look at the Acrylic Wallet export (both CSV and Tab Delimited Text). Unfortunately neither format includes a means to detect an item's category (Web Password, Credit Card, Serial Numbers, or custom). Only the data is present in each row of CSV data. And of course, the custom headers are not present either, so the export is quite lossy and ambiguous.

So, I don't see a lot of value in creating a converter, since the best I might do is use some unreliable heuristics to determine a Web Login from a Serial number (there are likely to be many incorrect categorizations), or require each user to edit the CSV and add the category and field headers (which is error prone at best).
