iCloud sync

I purchased 1password for Mac from the web-store. I've discovered it doesn't support sync via iCloud. I have 1password on all my iOS devices that I use iCloud to sync. How do I get the version from the app store. I don't believe I would be forced to hand over another $50. I hope I am right.
thanks,

If you bought from the AgileBits web store within the last 30 days, they will issue you a refund, and you can go to the Mac App Store and buy there. If it's been longer ago than that, your options are to buy from Apple without the refund or switch to Dropbox for your cloud sync solution.

If you're in that 30 day refund window and want to go that route, it will probably speed things up if you confirm here that you are requesting the refund. Someone from AgileBits will need to follow up after that.

Edit: Perhaps this post will be informative.

I am outside the 30 day window. I wonder what the legalities of them being able to do this are. It would seem that the consumer / customer is loosing out on this deal when they had no knowledge that this could happen. The way I see it then I have to re purchase the app because of changes I didn't make?

I don't get involved with the legalities but you did have thirty days to evaluate the purchase.

  • Hi @iceonu,

1Password 5 for Mac is a major release and one of the significant changes we made was a complete rewrite of iCloud syncing. 1Password 5 switched to the new Apple iCloud "CloudKit" technology which is only available on OS X Yosemite and iOS 8, and limited to Mac App Store apps only. After this change we were no longer able to offer iCloud syncing in the web store version of 1Password.

We've put together a FAQ page with more information here:

    Web store and iCloud FAQ

I also want to make sure that you have a chance to review some more information on iCloud and why the Mac App Store is the only version that has access to that particular sync option. Roustem, one of our founders, has written a blog post on the iCloud rewrite and I’d like to share it with you:

About iCloud changes in 1Password 5

The only way to use iCloud in 1Password 5 is to purchase directly from the Mac App Store. Unfortunately, there is no way for us to transfer your purchase from our store to Apple's.

I was able to find a license for 1Password in our back office records attached to the email address that you have used for your forum account. According to the records, your purchase was made almost two years ago, so we are not able issue a refund.

I’m very sorry we don’t have a better migration path for you.
