A few small issues for 1PW5

I thought I'd report a few minor issues as I'm evaluating 1PW5. I like your UX very much, and think you can leverage your UX as a strength against your competitors. I'm coming from an evaluation of a competitor and although they do have several good features that I would like to have in a solution, their complex UX will be an impediment for my users. I do have an issue with your lack of MFA, but I already dedicated a thread to that- no need to go into that here.

Just a few minor issues then:

  • On some web sites, when you go to the web site the 1PW menu recognizes the site and puts the site at the top of the menu. Thats great but in some cases you aren't actually on a log-in page and it fails when you try. It is doing this on GitHub.com. Webex.com has a separate issue- they have a 2-page login and 1PW isn't working for the autologin (webex.com, select login->webex products). Another site thats having some problems is my personal email account from GoDaddy - which is on login.secureserver.net. There are two issues there. First, when I log in using cached credentials- 1PW thinks I'm creating a new login every time. Secondly - for some reason it insists on caching old credentials. I'm pretty sure thats not a 1PW issue, but I'm surprised it isn't updating after I log in with 1PW.

  • LastPass decorates the login fields, making it jump out to you that it knows your credentials for the site (or can enter them as you create them). At first I liked this but as I used it, I found it creating confusion and just looking bad. I like 1PW better from this perspective- its less obtrusive but pops up when its important. BUT it would be good if there were some visual indication that 1PW was ready to log you in at the press of a button. Perhaps an animation, a change of color in the toolbar icon, or something.

For sites with multi page logins, look at these recommendations.

    Hi @esol‌

    In reverse order.

    1. I use Ghostery and it does the little number badge in the corner depending on how many trackers it has blocked on a page, something like that? That way we cover people with more than one matching Login item.

    2. You seemed to have a couple of different issues in there.

For the URLs I use the exact login page URL. 1Password will recognise the domain but if you use go and fill it takes you to the correct page. I suspect that's what you're doing given your GitHub description which I can replicate. I don't have an elegant answer for you I'm afraid. In situations like this you may find it easier (assuming it doesn't run in opposition to your normal workflow pattern) to have 1Password load the URL instead of visiting GitHub via your browser and then having it log in.

    e.g.

    1. On a blank page use the keyboard shortcut ⌥⌘\ to open 1Password mini.
    2. Start typing GitHub until it is either selected or the list is small enough that the arrow keys or mouse are sufficient.
    3. Either click on the entry or use the return key.

1Password will use the recorded URL (for the login page) instead of believing the sign up page is a valid form to fill in.

    Could that be one workaround?

hawkmoth has pointed you to our guide on handling multi-page logins, did that help at all?

I might need a little more detail for the last bit - sorry. I've got a cold and I feel as bright as a 40W bulb at the moment (tungsten filament, not energy saving).
