1Password 5 Mac - Waterfox 34.0.1

I have installed Waterfox on my MBP late 2011.
Installed the browser plugin for 1Password but CMD + \ is not working.
When trying to fill login data to a website I get an error message.

I have Uncheck “Verify browser code signature" in the advanced options but it did not fix my issue...

Reinstalling the browser plugin and rebooting the Mac did not fix it as well...

Using OSX 10.10.1 btw...

    Hi @Panja‌

I'll check Waterfox out later once I can find a suitable test environment. I was about to install it on my test machine but was reluctant to do so when the 'signed' package was reported to be unidentified so I'll be saving that for a VM where I don't mind wiping it afterwards.

All I can say is there are a lot of browsers out there, personally I'd never heard of Waterfox until you mentioned it. As a result it can be pretty hit and miss. Maybe it will work better with a beta, something I'll try once I've got the VM running.

    Thanks for the reply!

This is what I have tested and found out so far:

    • Running my Mac AppStore version of 1Password with Waterfox = does NOT work correctly
    • Running my Mac AppStore version of 1Password with Firefox = does work correctly
    • Running 1Password (trial) from Agilebits website (Agile Webstore version) with Waterfox = does work correctly

The latter option even runs without unchecking “Verify browser code signature".

  • Hi @Panja,

There's a bug in 1Password 5.0 where the "Verify browser code signature" checkbox isn't properly wired up, making it impossible to disable the verification. This is fixed in 5.1 which is in beta currently and should be released soon (it's in review with Apple).

Once this is fixed, it should work with Waterfox once you've disabled the verification.

I can't quite explain how the Webstore version is working with it unless you've previously used the webstore version and had disabled verification.

    Hope this helps.

    Rick

    Hi @rickfillion,

    That is great news!
I have installed the webstore version next to the AppStore version (which had the verification disabled).

I went into the option --> advanced and re-enabled the verification again.

After that I opened up Waterfox and it worked without problems...

I will eagerly await the new version. Cheers!

    We all are @Panja‌

At least know we know why and that the fix is not long off.

    Hi @rickfillion,

    You were correct.
After removing 1password (Mac AppStore) and completely removing WaterFox, repair permissions (diskutility) and rebooting I reinstalled Waterfox + 1Password Agile Web Store version and now I needed to uncheck the box before it would work.

    @littlebobbytables,

Yeah! Using the beta version at the moment, 30 day trial version, hopefully the Mac AppStore version gets updated before my trial runs out! :D
