Mixing versions, licenses, shared data
Hi all,
I have 1Password 5 purchased via the App Store on one of my systems (Mac 10.10), and the iOS version running on a couple iOS8 devices, all sharing a vault stored on DropBox. I also have to work on a Mac that is limited to MacOS 10.7.5.
Is there any way I can use an older version of 1Password on the 10.7.5 Mac, and still access the same password vault? If so, does that mean I need to but another license?
Thks,
v

Hi @verdonv,
Thanks for writing in. The latest version of 1Password that works on 10.7 is 1Password 3.8.22, which you can download on our Downloads Page, near the bottom in the Legacy section.
If you're syncing via Dropbox at the moment, this means you're using AgileKeychain for syncing. It turns out that AgileKeychain is actually the native database format for 1Password 3. So you can configure 1Password 3 to point to this AgileKeychain file to use as its database and it should function fully.
Since you've purchased 1Password 5, we'll gladly get you a 1Password 3 license so that you can make this setup work. Simply email support+licenses@agilebits.com, and attach your purchase receipt for 1Password 5 or other info for us to be able to verify the purchase and we'll generate you a 1Password 3 license to use.

That is great news. So my AppStore receipt should do the job. Fantastic :-)
Have a gerat day!

Hi @verdonv,
I've also been told that you could potentially just go onto the Mac App Store on the 10.7.5 machine while signed in with your Apple ID and it may offer you to download 1Password 3 from there as well.

I'm pretty sure I tried that last night, but I did just look at the previous purchases tab (where the 1Password 5 was). I'll try again when I get home, and maybe just do a general search, and let you know what it offers me.

Hi @verdonv
I know it works on a Mavericks machine with 1Password 4 but I don't have a suitable system to try it with 1Password 3 (which was briefly available on Apple's Mac App Store (MAS)). You would need signed in with the same Apple ID and in the Purchases tab of the OS X App Store application you should see 1Password with (hopefully) a download button. If you click on the download button it should say you can't run 1Password 5 but, fingers crossed, it should ask if you want to download the last compatible version which for you would be 1Password 3.
If it doesn't all you have to do is send in the Apple receipt and we'll get you sorted out. If you can let us know what happens with the App Store that would be great!

Unfortunately, did not work. It just said that 10.10 or better was required, but did not offer me any lower versions. I did email support and was sent a license, which has allowed me to run 3.x. Everything seems to be running correctly, including the dropbox sync. Fantastic that the file can be shared amongst such different versions. I really appreciate the excellent support received here, and via email!
Best wishes,

That's great to hear, @verdonv. Please do let us know if you need a hand with anything else.
