Version info:

1Password
Version 5.0.2 (502006)
Mac App Store

Platform installed: OS X Yosemite 10.10

Sync method: iCloud

Purchase date: 24 January 2015 from the OS X AppStore

Chronology:

A few days ago, I downloaded the free iOS 1Password app onto my iPad (iOS version: 8.1.2).
I then decided I wanted to buy the "full" version for both OS X and iOS.
I ran through the "which version should I buy?" walk-though on your website.
I clicked that I had both iOS and OS X machines.
It said, "buy 1Password for Mac." (It did not say, "buy one license for OS X, and then buy another license for iOS.")

I open the OS X AppStore and purchase 1Password for $49.99.
I create a new vault on my OS X machine, but 1Password still finds my old "trial" vault in my iCloud account.
I re-type the old 1Password master password (password 'A') to merge the data into a new, OS X-created vault.
Both databases appear to merge successfully.

I delete and re-download 1Password from the iOS AppStore on my iPad, wrongly assuming a "restore purchase" option would be active (it's there, and clickable, but does nothing while appearing to "restore" until the app times-out). The iOS 1Password also finds the old iCloud vault, and accepts the old master password (password 'A'). Now I realize (after reading your fine print) that it appears that I need to also make a separate purchase of $9.99 to enable the pro features in my iPad. Is this correct? If so, this should be made more clear in your store. Yes, it's in the fine print "about licenses" but your store options are confusing, and only bundles for OS X/Windows users are offered (the marketing illustrations on the main page implies that the pro version enables use on both your OS X and iOS machines).

I have not yet made the in-app purchase to upgrade the iOS app, and my iPad only recognizes password 'A' and does not recognize the new master password created on the OS X machine, password 'B'. Once I make the in-app purchase, will password 'B' be the "active" password for the new vault?

Okay, I think I get it now (however, now I have a new "problem").

    1. You need to buy two separate apps. To use 1Password's "pro" features on both your OS X machine and your iOS mobile device, you need to make an in-app purchase for an additional $9.99.
    2. Master passwords do not appear to be vault-specific. They appear to be device/app-specific.

I'm over it now, but while 1Password really is an excellent app, I was initially confused, then somewhat disappointed to find that I had to make an additional in-app iOS purchase to enable my mobile devices to also benefit from pro version features which I thought I had already paid for with the initial $49.99 license.

My new problem isn't with AgileBits. I need to figure out how to host two different Apple ID accounts on a single mobile device. I have a work-issued iPhone 5s, with a company-issued AppleID (which of course is different from the personal AppleID I purchased 1PasswordPro with for OS X).

Presumably, I can simply sign-in/out using different AppleID accounts while using the same mobile device at will, so I should be able to "restore" my previous in-app iOS purchase once re-logging into my personal AppleID account on my iPhone. However, I can't seem to successfully sign-out/log-in under a different AppleID on my iPhone. The in-app "restore purchases" button keeps returning a message saying I need to restore from the AppleID account under which I had originally purchased the app (which is what I attempted to do, and thought I did, but it still won't work).

I was once told by an Apple support person in a chat session that Apple limits the number of times you can switch Apple IDs. I wonder that's the reason for your inability to do that. I don't know how often you are allowed to switch.

    Hi @studio460‌

Master Passwords are actually vault specific and you've most likely been bitten by a syncing bug we had. We've been working hard on these and the new releases for both Mac and iOS versions of 1Password should eliminate many.

The other problem is a lot more complex. I know a few users were experiencing a issue with restoring their in-app purchase and that we were struggling to identify why. Now it might be it is related to switching between Apple IDs. First we need to be able to resolve the issue of changing Apple IDs and that one may require Apple support. Please do keep us informed and when you've got that sorted out we can work with you on upgrading to the latest version and seeing what we can do about the in-app purchase.
