    Hi @ssperling‌

You can only Wi-Fi Sync 1Password for iPhone (v3) with 1Password 3 for Mac I'm afraid. If you're running 1Password 5 for Mac you need to be running the newest version released yesterday to see the Wi-Fi Server tab but you will need to download 1Password 5 for iOS to make use of it and the first time you launch 1Password 5 for iOS you should be given the option of importing your 1Password for iPhone vault into 1Password 5 for iOS.

If you need any more guidance do please ask

    Hi @ssperling,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble syncing 1Password!

Unfortunately Dropbox sync has not worked in 1Password 3 for iOS since September of 2013, when Dropbox made a major change to their API. Also, the Wi-Fi sync option in 1Password 3 for iOS only works with 1Password 3 for Mac (starting in version 4, the Wi-Fi sync feature was completely re-written).

However, the solution should be pretty simple: If your iPhone is running iOS 8, you can install 1Password 5 for iOS from the App Store (the basic features are free, including the sync options). When you open 1Password 5 for the first time, you will want to choose the Sync existing vault option, then Import from version 3. When 1Password 3 opens, it should prompt you to import data to the new version. We have more information in this guide.

Once your data is in 1Password 5 for iOS, you can sync it with 1Password 5 for Mac via iCloud, Dropbox, or Wi-Fi sync (please note, iCloud sync requires the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac).

If you run into problems or need more help with that, please let us know - we're here for you! :)

Thanks I got everything moved over but now it won't sync either to icloud or Wi-Fi I have been trying to sync to icloud for about 1 1/2 hours and it still keeps spinning and saying syncing. The same thing happens with the Wi-Fi sync as well. I enter the code and it keeps spinning but nothing happens. the item number keeps bouncing down continuously and its circling up in left corner. I have full Wi-Fi strength, and I looked I have 22mb to sync which I know is large but I didn't think it would take over an hour. Any suggestions?

    Hi @ssperling,

I'm glad the import from version 3 to 5 worked well! As for the sync problem, the initial sync takes a bit longer than usual, although I wouldn't expect it to take an hour and a half or more. A 22 MB vault is larger than average I think, and it also depends on the speed of the connection on your device, but it certainly sounds like it's not working as expected - that's quite a long sync!

For now, let's concentrate on troubleshooting iCloud sync (if you decide you'd prefer Wi-Fi or Dropbox sync instead, let us know). To start, please try these steps:

    • On your iPhone, open 1Password and go to Settings > Sync > Sync Service > Disable Sync (and confirm you want to disable it).
    • Double-click the Home button and swipe up on 1Password to close it.
    • Restart your iPhone (hold down the power button for a few seconds and "slide to power off", then turn it back on again).

After the restart, open 1Password and try enabling iCloud sync again. Don't worry if the item number bounces up and down, as that's just a visual glitch we're working on. Allow some extra time to see if the sync completes. If it doesn't seem to work or if it gets stuck, what do you see on the Sync screen?

HI, thanks Ok I did all that and it was doing the same thing taking forever so I gave up turned it off again then opened it again and checked some of my login's and they synced so went back over to the sync screen and it said synced so werid

  • Hi @ssperling,

That's great, I'm glad it is working great. I do recommend keeping an eye on it over the next few days and make sure the sync remains solid. Keep us informed of any changes.

    Thanks!
