1Password 5 won't accept license from 1Password 4
Hello
I have 2 computers, iMAC is running Mavericks with 1Password 4.4... and MAC pro laptop is running Yosemite (recently updated). I have just updated 1Password 4 on the laptop to 1Password 5, am trying to install my license, however nothing is happening and it is not recognising it at all. I am also unable to sync 1Password 5 on the dropbox account (preferences>>sync>>), under VAULTS it is completely blank and no options to add or remove anything. I have tried to do a wifi sync and the screen is greyed out also (both somputers are on the same wifi).
I'm not sure where to go from here. How do I recconnect to my dropbox account and get working and syncing?
Thank you

Hi @lilpill,
So you have a number of issues there.
Your licence. I did try looking for a record of you in our back office but your forum registered email address yielded no results. So with not too much information to go on I'm going to point you to our Adding a license to 1Password guide. Can you tell me at what point you're unable to follow the guide and what you're observing instead of the expected behaviour.
As for syncing. Wi-Fi Sync is only for Mac to iOS but it sounds like you were hoping it would allow you to sync the two Macs so we'll concentrate on Dropbox. Can you confirm please, it sounds like you're saying instead of the following:
that some or all is blank. Can you confirm this please, maybe with a screenshot?
If the area under the tabs is completely blank, no list of vaults or permissible actions on the right then something is pretty wrong. It might be worth removing the 1Password application (just the application) and downloading a new copy.
- Quit both 1Password and 1Password mini. You can do this with the keyboard shortcut
⌃⌘Q
when 1Password is open (it doesn't have to be unlocked). - Drag the 1Password application from your
/Applications/
folder to the Trash. - Reboot your Mac.
- Download 1Password again from the same place you purchased it. So via Apple's App Store application if you're a MAS user and from our AgileBits Download page if you're a Agile Web Store (AWS) customer.
Do keep us informed.

Hi
Ahh, my license is under my work email while I signed up to the forum with my personal email.
So, good news and bad news. Good news is 1P is up and running, bad news is I can't tell you which of the 10's of combinations of fixes (and 4 hours later) that did the trick. After submitting my support question I delved into the forums trying all the different fix combinations, I had nothing to lose trying as it's my second computer and my main one was working fine. I sadly left work with a non-working, blank 1P and decided to wait for your support.
When I arrived home I turned the computer on and BAM the sync screen from the preferences was on my screen and the license was in place magically (even though I deleted the app completely from my computer and reinstalled it again), I didn't go through the set up stages, I wasn't prompted to put my license in, it was all already there and all my passwords were synced. It was like magic. So I am not sure what triggered it to work but it's working. All the blank tabs are no longer blank, license accepted.
Thank you for your reply, your suggestion was one of the fixes I did try as it was posted on another discussion, but honestly I can't tell you precisely what fixed it.
Also to answer you question above (in case this happens to someone else), yes, there were no vaults visible and the 'Sync vault with' dropdown was greyed out. In fact all the tabs except for the General tab were greyed out and 1P mini wasn't appearing in the menu.
Thanks again :)
