Can't open second existing vault

Hi, I've got 2 separate vaults (personal, work) which previously lived on separate machines. On my new laptop I've opened the personal vault and it works fine, but when I double-click to open the work vault (or right-click -> Open With -> 1Password) it does nothing. The file shows the open animation and focus switches to the 1Password app, but I just get a beep sound and nothing else happens. I see no error dialog and nothing I can find in the system logfiles.

By the way this is 1Password 5.1 on OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.

Is there more I need to do to open the second vault?

Thanks

Oof, I think I realized what the problem is. Long ago I had a single (personal) vault, which I copied to my work Mac (but did not enable Dropbox sync due to work policies). New work accounts got added to that vault and eventually I deleted the personal entries from it so it's a work-only vault. So now even though they have completely different sets of items (with possibly a small overlap) they probably identify themselves as the "same" vault.

What is the recommended way to un-break this? Can I tell 1Password to drop the current (personal, Dropbox-synced) vault -without- deleting it, then point it at my work vault long enough to export items?
