Dropbox Sync Keeps Disabling
Hi – I have two vaults that I'm trying to sync up with a second computer via Dropbox. Both computers are running 1Password v. 4 and both are on Yosemite. On the secondary computer, neither of the vault sync settings are sticking. Here's what I'm doing:
- Set up 2 vaults on Home computer
- Set up syncing of both vaults on Home computer
- Verify that both vaults are synced. They are syncing to a folder 2 levels deep in my Dropbox. 2 separate agilekeychain files are present each named as the respective vaults.
- On work computer, disable 1password mini helper in settings and quit 1password.
- On Work computer (previously using just one vault), I've renamed ~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper so that 1Password does not use it.
- Launch 1password, it asks me to set up as new or if i have existing data
- I say i have items in Dropbox and point it to my Primary vault, it loads those items
- I open my Secondary vault from the Dropbox folder in Finder, it loads those items as well
- With my Primary vault enabled, I go into settings to set up Sync for my primary vault with Dropbox. I point 1Password to the primary vault's keychain. It appears to sync, even giving me a "Vault last synced ## seconds ago reading".
- I repeat those steps with my secondary vault
- Go back to primary vault, check on Sync, and it's as if nothing happened. It gives me the choice between iCloud, Dropbox, folder again.
- Go back to secondary vault sync settings, same thing. Nothing stuck.
I don't actually have to switch between vaults to see the settings disappear. This is just to tell you what happened the first time I uncovered this as maybe I did something wrong. I can go back in and set up Dropbox again, it looks like it's syncing, and if I switch panes in settings the sync settings will be wiped again.
Is this a known bug?

Hi @adeaux,
In your steps 4-6, you are mostly following our How do I start over with an empty vault? guide but I don't see you mention rebooting. Now OS X does some pretty aggressive caching and will keep preference files cached even if you've deleted the original. My recommendation would be to try again but if you could ensure you follow all the steps in that guide.
What I would say is if you initialise 1Password by pointing it to your Dropbox and load the secondary vault by double clicking on a .agilekeychain then you shouldn't be needing to set up syncing at all, both should be syncing simply due to how 1Password was initialised on the work computer. Again, this might be reboot related so please do let us know. Certainly the behaviour you're observing isn't correct (as you obviously know). Please keep us informed.

@littlebobbytables Fixed after a reboot! I didn't realize that OS X cached preference files at all. Lesson learned. Thanks a bunch!
