On the assumption you're using 1P4 or 1P5 go to 1P > Preferences > Security and have a look at your settings under Auto-lock. I think you'll probably gather that the real answer to your question is "no" (sorry!) but some of the other options may help you. Note that the option referring to the computer being "idle" for a specified time refers to the computer itself being unused and completely idle so is probably not what you want.

I am using Version 5.1. Under "Auto-lock", I have: ✓Lock on sleep, ✓Lock when screen saver is activated, NOT locked on "Lock when main window is closed, ✓Lock when fast user switching and ✓Lock after computer is idle for 5 minutes ( the 5 can be changed, I think I have the option there). Finally I have ✓clear clipboard after 90 seconds. Does mean that I CAN change the timing. Your post to me intimates that I cannotJacko

As you suggest, the only options for which you can change the timing are "Lock after computer is idle..." and "Clear clipboard contents...". I don't think you can achieve what you want—which appears to be for 1P to lock itself after you've not actually used it for a specified time. Of course, there is still the keyboard shortcut ⌃⌥⌘L to lock password immediately—although I appreciate that's not what you seek.

Stephen,
I probably misled you on this post. What I wanted was to know if I could change the period of 1Password staying open and not having to password in again. I have an option to change it in "Preferences" which is where you kindly directed me. I can change in "Lock after computer is idle" and that is the very thing I was after when I first posted this question. Sorry I did not phrase my post properly. I do appreciate your patience with me. I am of very senior years so my computer experience is really by trial and error. However, to date, you all have been very helpful

I'm so glad you were able to resolve the position. You have no need at all to apologise. It's not always easy to put into words exactly what you need in the context of what 1P offers. Please don't hesitate to post again if you ever need more help.
