Automatically prevent error messages when syncing to disk

I've set up my Macs to sync to a NAS, this works wonderfully ... as long as I'm home. But since I don't want this NAS open to the world my MBA can't find it when I'm outside my home. This results in error messages that it connect to the server (perfectly OK) - however, it gets a bit tedious since it's an "error that's OK".

Is there some way I can get 1Password to stop displaying the error messages when I'm not at home?

I rather suspect not. If you look at this knowledge base article about folder sync in 1P you'll see the warning at the top includes the following:

Folder Sync should only be configured with a folder on a local or removable drive (e.g. external hard drive or USB flash drive). Configuring it with a network volume (e.g. Time Capsule or other NAS) may cause problems if the device goes offline.

I'm guessing that's what you're running up against.

    Hi @wookie,

I'm afraid Stephen (and the knowledgebase article from his link) is correct, those errors are expected with your setup if the Mac cannot connect to the NAS. However, this post from Rick might be helpful for you, as it was a suggestion for someone in a similar situation.

I hope that helps, but please let us know if you have more questions about that.

Yes, I kind of expected that it wasn't possible ;) I had to ask though

@wookie: This is why I continue to use Dropbox Sync. They have really nailed reliability and the offline mode is seamless. We are always exploring other options though, so it is always good to get feedback from our awesome customers about what they use! :)
