MoneyDance Not available with 1password?
My MoneyDance file is encrypted. I can choose any password I like to keep anyone from opening It but me. Strangely, 1password does not give a menu to use a password when I right click on the password field. I suppose I can generate one anyway and copy It and then manually paste It. I just wanted the powers that be to be aware that 1Passwords neat trick of accessing 1password when right clicking does not work in MoneyDance.

1Password for OS X cannot fill and submit credentials to native applications. Only web form so far. The iOS version can do this, but only if the other developer adds special code to allow it to talk to 1Password.

@levelbest: hawkmoth is correct. While we have extensions that allow 1Password to interact with the major web browsers, most apps do not support this. For now, copy/paste is the way to go for apps that 1Password can't communicate with in this fashion.
With Apple adding broad extension support in iOS 8 now, I hope they will bring something similar to OS X. It would be really cool to have a page like this full of Mac apps some day! :)

I was just trying that with my mobile banking app with BB&T. Apparently, I can no longer check my bank online easily anymore now that I Have this super hard password, imposable to remember. I am going to learn how to use 1password on my iphone becasue the login field on the banking app shows no recognition of my 1password options.

Hi @levelbest,
Extensions in iOS are new as of iOS 8. So our extensions are brand new too. The Safari extension allows filling of Login items just now but of course we want to see it do more (technical restrictions allowing though) and our more general extension is for other iOS apps to incorporate into their application. It isn't a case of this is what we thought would be easiest, it's actually how we're meant to do it to adhere to Apple's guidelines. There are 2/3 general types of extension, one of which is the Safari Extension. Safari will acknowledge, and allow the user to enable any Safari Extension. For 3rd party apps it's quite different though. They have to enable support for either one of the general types like a Sharing Extension or if the extension is trying to do something very specific, likes ours must, then they have to enable support for our specific extension and this is per iOS app. For apps that don't support our extension you're forced to fall back on copy and paste.
If you have any follow up questions do please ask.

All that was a little confusing, glad this company is aware of It though. It's a tough break for me as a user. I was remembering a password to check my balances, secure enough solution but not really as secure It is now with the password generator. Until this "problem" of not allowing my banking app to access my new 1password password gets a solution, I am going to have to go on to more work-arounds. And that is really too bad becasue I bought this app not only for It's security but for It making my wobbly memory useful again. I guess what you are asking is for me as a user to nag my bank to work with 1password and to allow a third party extension?

@levelbest: Sorry for the confusion! I know it can be hard to keep track of these things sometimes, especially with technology moving so fast.
Like I said, iOS has support for extensions system-wide now, so things are definitely heading in the right direction (as far as I'm concerned). And while 1Password is not able to integrate with apps on OS X for now, it sure is handy in the web browser -- which is where most of our logins are anyway.

"-- which is where most of our logins are anyway."
Well, not really. I get It, It's heading that way and It's the industry that is slowing the adoption process. For me there needs to be an integrated solution between my iPhone where I do my best to record my spending and to track my budget, and my home seat. And yes, most of the heavy lifting goes on at home, but most of the forgetting goes on when I am out and about you know .. shopping? ;-) . I for one am looking forward to iPhone apps making use of 1password. - Thanks

@levelbest: Agreed. I hear you. And while there's a whole list of iOS apps that have added support for the 1Password extension, that list is by no means complete. If there are any we missed, let us know; and we look forward to adding even more! :)
