Can't get my work PC to see my dropbox folder that contains my .agilekeychain
I've been using 1password for Mac for years. I have a family license and I now want to set it up on my PC at work, but I can't seem to get Dropbox to sync my 1pass folder to my PC. I check that box when selective syncing, I see all my other folders, but I never see that folder on my PC.
What am I doing wrong?

Hi @sammybliss,
So if I've correctly understood, you use a Mac at home where you run 1Password for Mac. You've set up Dropbox sync on the Mac but when you're at work you can't see the 1Password folder on your Windows PC.
If you're confident that Dropbox syncing is set up as 1Password goes then we'll need to turn our attention to Dropbox.
On your Mac take a look at your Dropbox folder in Finder, there should be a little icon on the 1Password folder and you can determine the status using this Dropbox KB, What do the icons on my files mean?.
Assuming it's the Synced! status the next thing to do is log into your Dropbox account on their website, https://www.dropbox.com and check it is present there (which it should be). If the folder is present there then we need to double-check that your work PC is set to download the folder for which the Dropbox KB article, Use Selective Sync on your desktop should help.
Please let us know if any of that helps

Hi @littlebobbytables, thanks for getting back to me!
Yeah, everything seems fine. When I go to dropbox prefs on my work PC and go to "Selective Sync" I see the folder and it's checked, but when I open up a finder window (or whatever you call it on a PC), it's not there. So weird!
FYI - My 1password keychain is in a folder titled "ll" for reasons unknown. When I very first set up 1password, which was years and several versions ago, that's where 1password put it. Should I try to recreate that keychain folder? And if so, how?
Thank you!!0 -
Hi @sammybliss,
That is an unusual name for the folder, certainly not one I would have guessed at. We can definitely alter where it is syncing to in a bid to see if it makes any difference but before we do so can I just ask how many other machines or mobile devices are you syncing with the current location and what versions of 1Password may be involved? I just want to make sure we don't accidentally create a tornado of chaos.
Also, when you mention what versions of 1Password you're running, can you point out the one on your Mac (assuming you do have other machines or devices).

Ohh yeah, a tornado of chaos doesn't sound like much fun. ;)
So I have a macbook pro running 5, we have a mac mini at home running 5, and I'm running the IOS app on my iphone 6 plus.
Then my wife also uses it on our mac mini and I think she has it on her iphone 6 as well.
I'm about to run to a meeting, but will check back in when I return in a couple hours. Thanks so much!!!

Hi @sammybliss,
It sounds like you're running 1Password 5 everywhere so we should be able to safely avoid hurricane of panic or maelstrom of stress :p
I'm assuming all of these machines are happily in sync at the moment.
On the first machine.
- Open 1Password's preferences and switch to the Sync tab.
- Change the option from Sync Primary vault with Dropbox to Sync Primary vault with None
- Don't tick the Delete data from Dropbox, just click on the Disable Sync button.
- With Dropbox Sync disabled, you can change it back to the Dropbox option and if you select the Dropbox folder in your user profile it should want to create a new
1Password.agilekeychain
in~/Dropbox/1Password/
. You'll know it's working if the button changes from a disabled Continue to an enabled button titled Create New. If it doesn't, cancel and in Finder manually create a~/Dropbox/1Password/
folder (I'm assuming it doesn't exist at the moment). With the folder created, try again but this time specifically select the~/Dropbox/1Password/
folder. - Give it a moment to sync and you should be able to see a new 1Password.agilekeychain in this folder.
- On each Mac in turn, repeat steps 1-3. When you re-enable Dropbox specifically select the
~/Dropbox/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain
. You will be asked if you wish to merge. It's okay, as the vaults were in sync prior to now merging won't have any impact. - For reinitialising Dropbox Sync on iOS I suggest the following. Disable Dropbox Sync using the screenshot guide below and once it is disabled set up Dropbox syncing using our Sync with Dropbox guide. Be careful as on iOS it will simply list all .agilekeychains so you want to make sure you select the right one, the one whose path is
/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain
If you have any doubts, concerns or questions do please ask and we'll do our best to explain and reassure
