iCloud Sync Issues

Team I am currently running 1Password 5.1 (510035) on the most current build of Mac Yosemite (10.10.2) I just installed this about 3 days ago. I am however, unable in the sync menu able to find iCloud Sync as an option. IT provides WiFi and Dropbox only. I have insured that my iCloud account has Apple Drive enabled and that all my devices that are logged in using my apple ID are on current IOS versions with iCloud Drive enabled. However 1Password still will not provide me the Sync option for iCloud. What do I need to do so that 1Password will allow me to sync to iCloud?

From where did you buy your copy of 1P for Mac? Only the Mac App Store version supports iCloud sync (following changes made by Apple on the release of OS X Yosemite). The AgileBits store version of 1P5 does not support iCloud sync. Both versions support sync of 1P data by either Dropbox or wifi.

You'll find more clarification in the AgileBits iCloud FAQ (which may in any event help you if your problem isn't the one I've identified above).

    Hi @jnl,

I hope you've found Stephen_C's post helpful in understanding why iCloud isn't available in our Agile Web Store (AWS) version. Now if you really want iCloud Sync support and you only purchased 3 days ago then I should ensure you're aware that you have a 30 day refund window and you could then purchase 1Password 5 from Apple's Mac App Store (MAS) which does include iCloud Sync support. It would also be prudent to ensure you know that we can't offer a discount on the MAS version so if you purchased 1Password 5 as an upgrade to a previous version at a discounted price we can't match that in Apple's store as they don't have a way to offer a selective discount like we can in our own store.

If you have any questions at all or would like to request a refund please let us know and we will do our best to help with either.

I bought it on the Agilebits site... why would it matter where I buy the product from. I have a fully licenced copy of the software, there was nothing on the site when i was going through the buying process that said if you want iCloud support you have to buy from apple. Can you please provide me the binaries to support icloud or give me a link that I can download the "Apple" Version. This is really stupid, if you want Apple users to buy from the apple store then don't sell it on your website, or redirect the user to the apple store.

    Hi @jnl,

We're sorry for the confusion this difference has caused. The FAQ that relates to your concerns and answers your questions is actually here: Webstore & iCloud FAQ.

We completely understand the concerns that this sales model may be less than ideal for those interested in syncing with iCloud, but apart from iCloud Sync, the two versions of the app function the same. Many 1Password users prefer to use Dropbox Sync, even Mac users like myself who sync with Android or Windows devices, so we still have plenty of reason to sell it on our website. We have this article on our support site comparing the two versions: Should I buy 1Password from the AgileBits Store or the Mac App Store?

Again, we apologize if this was unclear when you were making your purchase. As @littlebobbytables mentioned above, we're happy to help you make the switch to the Mac App Store version. We have no way to transfer your license to the Mac App Store unfortunately, but we can certainly refund your purchase from our store so that you can buy it from the Mac App Store.

If you'd like a refund, please send an email to support+forums@agilebits.com with a link to this thread, and we'll process it quickly for you.

    @jnl,

In fact it is stated on the purchase page of the site that the App Store version is required for iCloud sync. The trouble is that many people just don't read that info. It needs to be repeated several times in different places, but even then some people would miss it.

OK, I have read all this. I had the non-Apple store version and paid the full price AGAIN to get the icloud syncing feature. I also have the latest version of Yosemite and the beta version of iPassword BUT I also cannot see ICloud in the pop up menu after doing everything I thought was necessary. One anomaly: it looks like I have two instances of 1Passord Mini in my iCloud account on my Mac. What to do?

    Hi @kkumler,

If you are currently running the beta version of 1Password then it must be the version from our site. Unfortunately you can't run the beta and use iCloud Sync for the same reasons all of our Agile Store users can't - the beta is not allowed to access CloudKit as it didn't come from Apple's Mac App Store (MAS).

If you've been running the beta then our page on Migrating to the Mac App Store version should assist in transitioning you over. Just to ensure you're aware, the two versions of 1Password maintain separate sets of support files due to sandboxing. So if when you launch 1Password (MAS) you see a different vault then we will have to help you clear up some files so it properly imports your working vault.

For older iCloud users, those that used iCloud Sync in Mavericks as well as Yosemite or iOS 8 did end up with two sets of data in iCloud. One set is the old iCloud sync data but it isn't in a format that we use any more and I think but cannot test that it should be visible if you view your iCloud Drive from a Finder window. Sadly the only way to tell would be to convert an Apple account from iCloud to iCloud Drive and that's a one way process. The other set of data is your CloudKit data and that should only be visible if you use the Manage... button in System Preferences > iCloud.

Does that help at all? If you have any follow up questions or require further assistance please do let us know
