Changed master passwork, mini works inconsistently

Hi Again,

So, I changed my master password. It works perfectly every time when I use the application to get to the password login. When I use 1password mini the new password works about half the time. I know I am putting the password in correctly and after 1 password mini has rejected it I can go directly to the application, put in the master password and it opens right up. So, how can the password work in the mini version only some of the time?

I am using a Mac System 10.10.2. I am using Firefox 37.0.1.

    Hi @fjb182comcastnet,

    Unlike 1Password 3, 1Password 4/5 work in a different way where whether you're using the main 1Password window or 1Password mini, you are unlocking the same vault. With 1Password 3 it worked quite differently and that's a whole different story.

    As a result though, I can't think of any reason that could cause 1Password mini to not unlock where the main window does. Now I realise you say you're being careful but typos are easy, I know I certainly do and I'm constantly typing HI instead of Hi because I don't take my finger off of the shift key fast enough.

    Now in instances like this, if you can categorically state that you can type your Master Password out somewhere safe and that copying and pasting it into 1Password mini fails while copying the exact same text into the main window works then we've got a problem and a very puzzling one. We will be quite interested in what version of 1Password for Mac you're running as well.

    Thanks for the response. I am using 1Password 5.1. I will put the password in a word document and use that to cut and paste it into both the mini version and the app. I'll post back in a day or two to let you know if the problem with mini continues.

    It is official, I pasted the master password into mini and it was rejected. I then pasted the same password into the application and it worked just fine. I did this twice with a restart in between and both times the first paste into mini was rejected but the second paste into the application worked. So????

    I think the best way forward might be through a diagnostic report.

    I would like you to create the following Diagnostic Report.

    Then attach everything to an email to us: support+ forum@agilebits.com
