Hello,

today I installed the lates 1PW update for iOS and on the 7th of april the update for Mac OS and now it seems that 1PW can not sync via Wifi anymore.

I see my mac, the key is correct but I get an error message when syncing:

That´s really bad :(

  • Hi @pauLee,

I'm sorry to hear that after updating you are having trouble syncing over WiFi. We'd be happy to help you with this.

The first thing I'd recommend is restarting both the Mac and iOS device. If you are not familiar you can find instructions for restarting iOS here:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201559

If you are still having problems after doing so, please let us know:

    • What iOS device you are using (iPhone 6, iPad Air, etc), what iOS version is installed on it, and what version of 1Password is installed
    • What version of OS X you have on your Mac, as well as what version of 1Password

    Thanks!

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

I´am using an iPhone 5 and iPad Air with iOS 8.3 and Mac OS 10.10.3 on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15", Late 2013) with 1PW 5.3 (as I told, latest update from MAS)

If you have some more questions just ask (I work in IT business, so you can ask technical questions).

    Tom

    Hi @pauLee,

Do you have any sort of antivirus/firewall/VPN/or proxy on either of the Macs? If so, make sure 1Password is whitelisted, and also traffic on 127.0.0.1, as that is where Wi-Fi sync takes place.

We look forward to hearing whether that solves the problem for you.

    Thanks!

I have little snitch (LS) installed but sync also fails when turning of LS. I can not see any traffic when trying to sync in the LS traffic monitor.

It seems to be a problem of 1PW from MAS, not for iOS because Wifi sync with 1PW for windows works well.

Thanks for that information, @pauLee. Do you have OS X Firewall enabled? If so, please test to see if it is causing the problem: disable OS X Firewall, restart 1Password Mini and see if WiFi sync works.

When that happened to me after the update, I had to remove 1Password and reinstall on IOS. It resolved my problem with syncing with one of my Macs.

@davidharari: That was my initial thought as well, and reinstalling 1Password for iOS may resolve the issue (as it has for others with Wi-Fi Sync issues).

My only reservation is that this is a different error (61) than the one we're seeing in other cases (7027), so I'm not completely sure this is the same issue.

I have disabled the firewall temporarily.

Reinstalling 1PW on iPhone or iPad does not solve the problem. Any debug

    What´s next?

I tried the to repair permissions, attributes and launch services with the "1Password troubleshooting" tool. I have also generated a diagnostic report and sended via mail.

@pauLee: I wasn't able to find an email that had your address or username in our system, so it may be that you sent it via a different address.

In the mean time, I'd like you to first see if you can actually get a response on your Mac from the iOS device. Try this:

    1. On your iOS device go to Settings > Wi-Fi and tap the ( i ) next to your network name.
    2. Get the IP address listed there.
    3. On your Mac, open Terminal and type ping X, where X is the full IP address for your iOS device.
    4. Press Control+C to end the ping once you've gotten a few tries in.

You should get a response like this if the attempts are successful:
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.27: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=254.021 ms

If not, you'll see Request timeout for icmp_seq

If you're getting timeouts, there is definitely something wrong with the network itself, as the devices aren't able to communicate with each other at all. If, however, you're able to ping successfully, that could indicate that the network itself is fine but traffic is being blocked in software or hardware -- maybe just something misbehaving or misconfigured.

Please try some basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting (in order of 'easiest' to 'hardest'):

    1. Reset device Wi-Fi (both devices)
    2. Restart OS (both devices)
    3. Soft-reset router (if possible)
    4. Hard-reset router
    5. Reset sync settings (both devices)
    6. Forget the Wi-Fi network and reconnect
    7. Disable firewall (OS or 3rd party — just turning it off and back on again can help in many cases where traffic is being blocked in error) -- keep in mind you may have firewall settings on the router itself.
    8. Disable security software -- there may also be misconfigured proxy settings on either device.
    9. If security or firewall software turns out to be the issue, turning it back on and setting an exception for the traffic may work, provided that is an option.

Please let me know what you find. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)
