The Key Password
OK, obviously I have too much time on my hands. It seems to me that the "weak" point in 1Password is the password used to open 1Password, right? Because that is the one password you have to recall, or have access to, it's going to have to be memorable, in my case that means short and pronounceable. Any creative approaches to this?

Diceware offers long and pronounceable, and fairly easy to remember. For instance (Chomsky's sentence, not diceware)
Colourlessgreenideassleepfuriously
Passphrases can offer long, not pronounceable, but easily remembered.
Anyone should be able to remember
tbontbtitqwtnitmtstsaaoof
(work it out! Might be easier to get it if I began as 2Bon2B).
I chose this one because I am sure it is in password crackers already. But if you have a favourite book you should be able to do something similar that would be hard to crack.

Hi @idgoddard,
You're correct that your master password will need to be memorable, but that doesn't mean it has to be short. Hopefully the suggestions from danco were helpful, and I also strongly recommend taking a look at this knowledgebase article: How do I choose a good Master Password?
That article also has a link to an article on our blog called Toward Better Master Passwords which will give some excellent information on how to create a memorable password that is also long enough to be very secure. I hope that helps, but we're here for you if you need anything else! :)
