1Password is synched fine between an iPhone and iPad.

Now trying to add 1Password 4.4.3 to a MacBook 10.9.5. I receive the message:
"Could not find 1Password information on iCloud"

Trying resetting iCloud configuration in one of the other devices, following directions in some other thread did not help -

  • Hi @jfal,

What version of 1Password and OS X are you using on your other devices?

If you're using 1Password 5 with Yosemite or iOS 8 on the other devices, you will not be able to use iCloud sync on the Mac running Mavericks. In version 5, iCloud sync was rewritten from the ground up to use CloudKit, a new technology from Apple that’s built into OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) and iOS 8. CloudKit is not available on OS X 10.9 or iOS 7. If you don't wish to upgrade to Yosemite at this time, we recommend using Dropbox or Wi-Fi sync instead.

I upgraded my mac for Yosemite, and I am past that problem. Thanks.

Now I do not see a icloud sync option, and your site asks me to download a new version from app store.

App store is charging me $49.99 for icloud sync??? is that correct?

    1. If you ever want to use iCloud to sync 1P data between your Mac and iPhone you must buy 1P from the Mac App Store because the version from the AgileBits store doesn't support iCloud sync (following changes made by Apple on the launch of OS X Yosemite). Both versions support sync of 1P data by either local wifi or Dropbox.
    2. If you bought a licence for 1P4 for Mac from AgileBits the upgrade to 1P5 from the AgileBits store is free.

So I'm afraid the choice is between iCloud sync and a free upgrade to 1P5 direct from AgileBits. AgileBits is not allowed by Apple to give 1P5 upgrades in the Mac App Store to those who bought 1P4 from the AgileBits store.

It is worth mentioning that Dropbox sync (which, as Stephen_C says, is available on all versions) actually has some advantages over iCloud sync, and is secure enough that it is used by many people, including several Agile staff.

Of course, you may just have a strong preference for iCloud, or be required by your employers not to use Dropbox. But in that case you will just have to make another purchase.

    Hi @jfal,

If we could we would happily migrate users over but unfortunately the facility simply does not exist.

    • Apple don't provide a way to migrate Agile Web Store (AWS) to the Mac App Store (MAS) version.
    • Apple don't provide a way to offer free or discounted copies of 1Password for Mac (MAS).
    • Apple don't provide a way to bundle 1Password for Mac (MAS) with any other platform.

All we can do is offer a discount to all and any potential customers every so often in one of our sales. Now at some point in the future this may change as Apple improve their stores but for now this is what we have.

Our recommendation in situations like these are to consider Dropbox as an alternative cloud based service to iCloud. It will allow you to sync all of your devices like iCloud does and it won't require any additional purchases.

You may have questions arising from this and the information kindly posted by Stephen_C and danco. If you do please do post
