Hi,

helper app doesn't launch upon system startup. I have the latest OS X & the latest version of 1Password. "Always keep 1Password min running" option is switched on. Thank you.

What version of 1P are you running, please? (Go to 1P > About 1Password and tell us exactly what it says there.)

Is it possible you have more than one copy of 1P on your machine (or on any disk permanently attached to it)? What result do you get if you do a Spotlight search for 1Password?

1P version 5.2 (530032). Only 1 copy is running. I even did the app reset by removing its settings. Spotlight shows only 1Password 5 & 1 Password mini.

Thanks for the additional information. I wonder whether in fact you meant to say you were running 1P5.3 (as the version number seems to relate to 1P5.3). If not, try updating to 1P5.3 and see if that makes a difference. Just in case it doesn't (or in case you're running it already) can you please explain what you mean exactly by:

helper app doesn't launch upon system startup

What symptom of that do you see? What error message do you get when you try to invoke 1P?

    Hi @sbunkov,

There isn't any reason why 5.2 shouldn't work but we'd always advise upgrading to the latest version just to ensure you're running with all the big fixes we've made. If you still have issues after updating to 5.3 the quickest way forward with this particular issue might be via a diagnostic report.

To do that I would like you to create the following Diagnostic Report.

Then attach everything to an email to us: support+ forum@agilebits.com

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Once you've sent the Report a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

    For anybody reading this thread.

The Always keep 1Password mini running option works by registering 1Password mini with launchd, OS X's daemon/agent manager. It seems something had gone wrong and resetting this entry resolved the issue. Here is how to do this should you find yourself in a similar situation and it's definitely not the result of multiple copies of 1Password on your system, still the primary cause of most 1Password mini hiccups.

    1. Launch 1Password.
    2. Enter 1Password's preferences.
    3. Uncheck the top option in the "General" tab, the option is titled "Always keep 1Password mini running".
    4. Close the preference window and then quit 1Password. A confirmation dialog will pop up asking if you wish to Enable 1Password mini? Please click on the Do not enable button.
    5. Launch 1Password and re-enable 1Password mini be ticking the checkbox you previously un-ticked.
    6. Quit 1Password again and reboot your Mac.

If the 1Password mini launchd entry is at fault this will reset it and should resolve the issue. Obviously this won't apply to everybody but it's certainly worth attempting and can't damage your vault in any way.
