Can't connect 1Password 5 to my existing Dropbox keychain

I've just installed 1Password 5 on my new Macbook Air, running Yosemite.
I have a 1Password keychain on my Dropbox, which is also synced to the new computer.
But I can't find any way to connect 1Password to my keychain.
The sync panel, doesn't provide any options.

Please help...

Hi @carterbrooks,

Did you set up 1Password as a new user, and now have an empty Primary vault? If so, do you want to sync your Primary vault with the keychain in Dropbox? To do that, just follow these steps:

• Open 1Password and go to the menu for 1Password > Preferences.
• Select Sync, then choose Dropbox from the “Sync vault with” pop-up menu.
• Click the Choose button and select your .agilekeychain file in Dropbox (then click Open).
• Click Merge with Existing to start syncing.

On the other hand, if you haven't gone through the setup yet, opening 1Password should either find your keychain in Dropbox, or give the option to choose it. If you see a choice between "I'm new to 1Password" and "I've used 1Password before", choose that you've used it before, then choose to sync with Dropbox.

It's resolved. I hadn't yet clicked the "Start using 1Password" button, which went ahead and found my Dropbox keychain and the rest. So all set now. Thanks.

In another user account, I attempted to connect 1Password to my dropbox agile vault. When 1Password opened (already registered), I selected "I've used 1Password before". Next screen, selected dropbox, then "choose vault". From there, nothing happens. Mystified.

Can I ask, what version of 1Password are you running?

When you click the chose vault... button it should open a standard file chooser window. Now in the beta version it seems to be broken but if I run the stable version I have no issues. So at the moment I'm wondering if you're running our 5.4 beta. If you are I would recommend trying the latest stable version which for our store is 5.3.1.

Does that help explain it at all on your machine? I'll be interested to hear :smile:

Yes..Beta 5.4. I'll download a stable version. Thanks for the help. I'll post back if that doesn't resolve the problem.

@2stepbay, it sounds like you're definitely running into the issue in the beta that littlebobbytables mentioned. It should work as expected in the latest stable version, but please do let us know if you still have trouble with that. We're always happy to help! :)

Yes Drew...that was the problem. Now that I'm linked to the dropbox file, I suppose I can download/install the beta without any further related issue. Correct?

The problem may even be resolved in the latest beta :smile: I reported the issue just after posting and as it was a regression the devs jumped onto it straight away. As a matter of pride they try not to break currently working code :tongue:
