Password not working to open my 1Password

As a recent convert from PC to Mac I purchased the $49.95 version of 1Password for my Mac. I devised a new password and entered it as my 1Password entry. I then spent considerable time trying to enter the numerous passwords. At some point approximately 1 month after my purchase I could no longer get into 1Password. I tried every conceivable possibility and still couldn't enter. Is it possible for me to receive another license or permission to enter a new password. As the purchase was made while taking an apple one to one lesson and most of the details were conducted by my teacher I don't know for sure whether or not it was purchased from the Apple store or directly from AgileBits. Please advise me of my possibilities.

You don't need another licence and I'm afraid there's no way anyone can give you access to your 1P data if you have in fact forgotten your master password. There are two knowledge base articles that may help you:

    1. I lost or forgot my Master Password. Help!
    2. How do I start over with an empty vault?

Do bear in mind that starting over will lose you all your saved 1P data.

    Hi @manowalk@icloud.com,

Sadly Stephen_C is correct. There is no way to recover or reset a Master Password as to have such a feature would weaken the security of the vault. The only way to access your vault is through entering the correct Master Password. I hope it comes back to you.

Stephen_C is quite correct about not needing another licence. Your licence is independent of your vault or vaults. In the worst case scenario where you've given up on trying to remember your Master Password you simply need to follow our How do I start over with an empty vault? guide to begin again. The guide covers the two locations 1Password stores its support files and what I would recommend is checking both given you don't know where you purchased 1Password from. Obviously though we do hope you manage to regain access and that you haven't lost your vault.

If you have any follow up questions to any of this please don't hesitate to ask.
