Move 1password to a new computer

Community Member

Hello, apologies if this has been asked before but I haven't had success searching for an answer.

I have just replaced my hard drive in my computer and want to move my existing 1password data to this new system, without using cloud services.
I was using the latest app store version, as is the 'new' computer.
I have access to my old hard drive (via USB) and want to copy all the necessary files onto my new hard drive so I can just start up 1password and login. Is this possible? Can you provide a list of all the files I need to copy?

1Password Version: 5.4
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: OSX 10.11.1
Sync Type: wifi

I think you'll find this knowledge base article helpful:

Where does 1Password store its data?

Note the answer differs depending whether you're using the Mac App Store version of 1Password (as you say you are) or the AgileBits store version.

On the other hand, if you still have access to the old drive via USB, as you say, I'm wonderfing whether it might be altogether simpler to use folder sync, if you can point your new copy of 1P to the old data.

    Hi @marcsan,

That's good to hear! On behalf of Stephen_C, you're welcome.

Hopefully all is well with 1Password now, but we'll be here for you if any other questions arise. :) Cheers!
