WiFi sync not working [computer not found, working on a fix]

Hi there, same problem showed up again. And this time rebooting isn't working. Done few times. Tried on different wifi networks, home office and another office.
1P on the iPhone won't see the 1P on Mac for Syncing.
I'm only having this problem after iOS upgrade to 6.1.1. Never had a single issue with the previous version. Please advise.
1Password Version: 6.1.1
_Extension Version: Not Provided
_OS Version: 10.10.5
_Sync Type: WIFI0 -
I have closed and relaunched the 1P app on the iPhone a few times and then it was able to see my Mac over WIFI and sync.
Certainly you didn't make any change to Wi-Fi Sync. Sure enough this problem came up only after 6.1.1
I will post further if occurs again. Thanks

Excellent! Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that all is well again. While the latest iOS and OS X releases have been a lot more reliable for me, I still run into issues like this from time to time. Often if you haven't made any changes in 1Password, you may need to look elsewhere for what might be causing the connection to fail. It sounds like you should be all set, but don't hesitate to reach out if we can be of further assistance. We're always here to help! :)

And here we are again... sorry.
WIFI sync keeps failing. I can look elsewhere but there's not much left. 1P on the iPhone won't see 1P on my Mac. And it happens on at least four different wifi networks I work with.
I'm running out of networks here :)Help is appreciated

Again, after quitting and rebooting both iPhone and Mac few times it made the trick.
Since no change was applied to all networks I work with something must be failing within the iOs app. Hoping in a fix.

@giusep71: Indeed, it sounds like it isn't the networks themselves if you can get it to work at all. However, what does seem clear is that it's something with one (or both) device(s) you're trying to sync...
Again, after quitting and rebooting both iPhone and Mac few times it made the trick.
..and of course that explains why I'm not able to reproduce the problem. It really wouldn't be appropriate (or even possible, in many cases) for 1Password to restart the OS for you.
I can't say that I've had this problem to the degree you seem to, but I frequently need to reset Wi-Fi (and bluetooth, which seems even less reliable) on devices or restart them completely to get things working, completely separately from 1Password. Keep in mind that 1Password isn't running the network service; that's all handled by the OS. So once you've verified that 1Password is setup correctly (and it sounds like that's the case, since you are able to sync sometimes), you'll need to look elsewhere for the solution.
Now, it's entirely possible that 1Password itself is simply damaged (although restarting the device wouldn't help with that), so you could reinstall the app to see if that helps. But if you're still unable to sync reliably even then, it's going to be an issue with network connectivity on the devices themselves. 1Password, like any app, absolutely depends on their software and hardware working properly in order to do anything network-related.

Do we have any timeline on a resolution to this issue? Not being able to sync my vaults is creating major problems.
Thanks for the help.

It is currently possible to sync, you just have to switch away from the All Vaults view to each vault (one at a time) that you want to sync:

We do not announce timelines, sorry.
Thanks.

Hi Ben,
I wish this was true for me. I have tried what you describe many times when Agilebits updated the IOS App and it simply does not work :( What does work, however, is to rest the IOS app and sync fresh 1x only. If you add new passwords, do it with the desktop app and not the IOS app. Anxiously awaiting a fix. Idea. is it possible to push the old edition of the IOS app back to the iTunes store?

@golucid: Can you tell us a little more about your setup? I suspect there's a solution there for you, even before the All Vaults issue is resolved in an update. It is not possible to 'downgrade' to an old version with the App Store.
What does work, however, is to rest the IOS app and sync fresh 1x only.
Tell me the exact steps you're taking, and the OS and 1Password versions involved. We'll get to the bottom of this! :)

I have tried switching to the primary vault only. The error message I am getting is that my iphone/ipad cannot see the computer on the wifi network even though they are both on the same network,

Okay, that is a totally different issue then. Could you please try rebooting the computer and your WiFi access point / router? If that still doesn't resolve the issue please see if you are able to sync over an Ad Hoc WiFi network:

Windows: https://support.1password.com/wifi-adhoc/win.htmlThanks!

@brently. What @bwoodruff describes here is precisely the same message i receive when also switching to the primary vault or any of my vaults. As I mentioned above. If I do not add any passwords via the App and stick to just the client on my Mac, I just need to reset the IOS app and initiate a fresh sync, which is only good for 1x only.
My set up is basic. I have a MacBook Pro running 10.11.1. I have 4 iPads running IOS 9.x. 3 of which I in error allowed auto App updating, which updated to the newest 1Password. I have since disabled that feature. However, I have one iPad with an older edition of 1Password and it syncs flawlessly! :)
I am trying to figure out how to copy my older 1Password App from my one iPad and have it installed on all my other devices. Unfortunately, after talking with Apple. You can not backup your apps from IOS 9 to iTunes anymore... I'm puzzled because iTunes still shows that you can transfer purchases: iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.

@steeelers16. Ben I have taken it a step further - as an FYI. I have two homes. I have tried using the sync feature on various networks, including the Apple Store. I have initiated a fresh OS install on my new MacBook Pro as well has did a factory reset and install on my iPhone and one of my iPads. I am able to replicated the issue across multiple networks and even on fresh OS installs with simply logged into iCloud and 1Password installed.

@golucid: Thanks so much for following up. I'm sorry you're still having this strange issue. At this point, the best thing to do will be to generate a diagnostic report for each device and send it to support+forums@agilebits.com so we can look at the logs to determine exactly what is happening:
Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)
Sending Diagnostics Reports (iOS)*
*In 1Password Settings > Advanced > Diagnostics > Log Settings, enable App, Sync, Wi-Fi Sync
The key will likely be in comparing the iOS device syncing successfully with the one which is not, along with the server (Mac). Just be sure to attempt a sync first after enabling the logs and before generating the diagnostics. Also include a link to this forum thread and your username in the email so we can 'connect the dots'. We will get to the bottom of this! :)

@bwoodruff after a few attempts I was able to get it to sync via the ad hoc network. Once I did that it resolved the issue and now syncs normally via the wifi sync process. Thanks for the pointers and the help!

Excellent! Thanks for the update. On behalf of Ben, you are most welcome! I'm glad to hear that all is well. Ad-hoc can really help since it eliminates the network itself from the equation. It sounds like you should be all set, but don't hesitate to reach out if we can be of further assistance. We're always here to help! :)

@Brently. I have good news. I backed up my iPad with 1Password version 6.0.2 to iCloud and I erased and restored all my other iPads using that backup. This brought over version 6.0.2 to those other devices and they now sync flawlessly. The only issue is, I am not able to restore my iPhone to that edition because the back up is for iPad only. Question, I have on my MacBook Pro version 5.3.2. I do not recall if this edition supported vaults. Does it? If so, I can roll back to that edition, I think.

I'll see if uninstall the iOS app will do the trick.
Can you please (to be 100% sure) let me know the procedure to uninstall, reinstall, and set up the app to sync over WI FI?Thanks

@giusep71: Absolutely! Just follow these steps:
- Backup your 1Password data
- Tap and hold the 1Password icon on your iPhone until it jiggles
- Tap the ( x ) in the upper left corner of the icon and delete the app
- Hold the Sleep/Wake button and "slide to power off"
- Hold the Sleep/Wake button again to power it back on
- Open the App Store
- Search for 1Password and tap the 'cloud download' icon to install it
- Drag the 1Password app on your Mac to the Trash
- Restart your Mac
- Install a fresh copy from the AgileBits website
- Open 1Password for iOS, choose 'sync existing vault', and select Wi-Fi Sync
- Open 1Password for Mac and follow the Wi-Fi Sync instructions
I hope this helps. please let me know how it turns out! :)

You're suggesting to reinstall 1P on Mac as well. Why?
I did in the past but then I did reconsolidate all 1P data from iCloud. How will it work this time I only have 1P db stored on my Mac?Thanks

You're suggesting to reinstall 1P on Mac as well. Why?
@giusep71: In case it's the Wi-Fi Sync server (in 1Password for Mac) is part of the problem.
I did in the past but then I did reconsolidate all 1P data from iCloud. How will it work this time I only have 1P db stored on my Mac?
The backup link in my previous post has instructions for both, just in case. But while deleting an iOS app removes its data as well, deleting 1Password for Mac will not affect its database. You're just installing a fresh copy of the app itself. :)

After a bright start the bug came back. It fails to sync over WIFI.
Only work around is to go in iOS, turn off the WIFI sync, quit the app, relaunch the app, set up the WIFI sync with my Mac, and it works. Then somewhere along the road something happen and syncing won't work anymore.Considering as per Brent suggestion I have uninstalled and reinstalled 1P on both iPhone and Mac, and the problem persists on multiple WIFI networks...
If anyone has suggestions I'd be happy to hear.

@giusep71: So, just to clarify, you're able to get it working again by disabling Wi-Fi completely on your iOS device? That sounds like a network caching issue. Have you tried powering down the router and all your Wi-Fi devices? That usually resolves connectivity issues for me for weeks (since devices won't be able to cache and then spread bad data around to each other while they're powered down).
In any case, if you're still having trouble, the best thing to do will be to generate a diagnostic report for each device and send it to support+forums@agilebits.com so we can look at the logs to determine exactly what is happening:
Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)
Sending Diagnostics Reports (iOS)*
*In 1Password Settings > Advanced > Diagnostics > Log Settings, enable Sync and Wi-Fi Sync, and then try to reproduce the problem so we can get the issue logged.
Just be sure to include a link to this forum thread and your username in the email so we can 'connect the dots'. We will get to the bottom of this! :)

@bwoodruff. thanks for the encouragement. I was able to roll back to an earlier IOS app edition for the iPhone and as stated above, restore to an earlier edition of the iPad IOS app and everything is now syncing again. I love 1PASSWORD and the earlier editions work flawlessly! As long as I do not update, everything works perfectly.
