Can you advise if this is on the list of bug corrections in progress for 1 Password? I too rely on 1PWD heavily but cannot WiFi sync anymore without creating an ad hoc network. Not very practical for me and I suspect other family members will simply not even try. This used to work fine. I note that the update to 1PWD released today (6.1.2) did NOT correct this issue as I've just tried again. Thanks

  • Hi @robw,

I'm sorry to hear that you are also having trouble syncing via WiFi. We have not, at this point, been able to identify a bug in our code that would be causing this.

You mentioned the sync works over an Ad Hoc network. Have you tried other WiFi networks, besides the one you primarily use?

    Thanks @LauraR for your support.
Will wait and see if the applied changes fix the problem.

Yes, I have. I tried at another house. Impacts both iOS devices (iPhone and iPad) attempting to sync to Mac.

@robw I agree, using the adhoc network is a bit impractical.

As I mentioned above, I was able to restore all my iPads to one of the Apps prior to the recent update and again resume normal wifi syncing flawlessly. However, Apple pushes the new 1Password for iPhone with no option to roll back. I did have an earlier edition of the app and was able to roll back with some work, but able to get it installed. Do you have a back up of a prior version to the recent two updates? Maybe you can roll back and get 1Password to work again.

There is something not right with the new editions...having to roll back to earlier editions that work dose suggest that something might not be right with the new App editions.

@robw Also mentioned above, I have tried with several networks, including visiting both a Starbucks and Apple Store as well as using my iPhone as a hot spot. The new apps simply would not work. This is also after doing a complete software clean install on my MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone. This did not resolve the issue. I wanted to point this out to you before you may consider blowing out your systems because it may not work since the App is really the possible issue.

Thanks for the additional information. Unfortunately, I can't roll back, I don't still have an earlier version. I guess I was panicked slightly by today's new update from the team here, which seems to prioritize cosmetic improvement over functional corrections. So I posted again today just to make sure that the WiFi sync failure isn't lost from the radar screen. Right now, we're living with unsync'd files on different machines, which sooner or later will become very inconvenient.

  • Hi folks,

I was able to locate a bug in our bug tracker that may be related to what you are seeing. I've linked to this thread from there so our development team has these cases as a reference. Hopefully they'll be able to track down the issue.

We can't squish the bug until we've located it. ;)

    But this is progress.

    Thanks @bwoodruff for locating a bug. There's hope :)

@golucid: Indeed. I'm really sorry for the trouble here. This appears to be related to the new All Vaults feature in 1Password for iOS, and not the server. If you encounter the issue again, please try these steps:

    1. Disable Wi-Fi Sync in 1Password for iOS
    2. Completely quit the app via the iOS multitasking window (double tap the Home button and swipe the app upward)
    3. Launch 1Password for iOS again and setup Wi-Fi Sync

In our testing that seems to do the trick, but be sure to let us know either way. We're working on finding a permanent fix for this. Again, I'm really sorry for the confusion and inconvenience this problem has caused. :(

That works. Not automatic (like it used to be) but a perfectly acceptable working solution right now. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the update @robw!

You're very welcome! I'm glad that helped.

I'm sorry you've had to deal with this, but I really appreciate your willingness to work with us to track down the problem. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

@giusep71: Hopefully that does the trick, but I also wanted to mention that we've identified an issue which might be affecting you as well: the new All Vaults feature has brought with it some issues, one of which affects Wi-Fi Sync:

Known vault sync issues in 1Password for iOS

We're working on an update to address this. Be sure to let us know if you have any further trouble.

    Thanks @brenty

This is the problem and workaround I was encountering: "Wi-Fi sync error "Computer not found" (or computer not showing up in Wi-Fi Sync list)".

Since implementing changes as per LauraR suggestion... well I'll wait few more days and then update you.

    Knock on wood!

Indeed. Thanks so much! Looking forward to your (hopefully positive) report. :)

@brently I tried your above steps on my iPhone and it works with the primary vault only. The remaining vaults default to sync with dropbox and there are no other sync options.

  • @golucid Are you syncing via WiFi with the Primary vault, or another method? If you're not syncing via WiFi on your Primary vault, you can't sync the others with WiFi. It has to be across the board or not at all at the moment. Let us know what the case is.

@penderworth I am syncing with the primary vault. The primary vault syncing option is only available using the primary vault the additional vaults only offer dropbox syncing as an option

  • @golucid Which vaults do you have selected on your computer's Wi-Fi Server tab in 1Password's Preferences? There isn't an option in the iOS app vaults to sync via Wi-Fi on anything except the Primary one because they all draw from that on the computer's side. Here's an example screenshot from my Mac:

    Does that help? :)

@penderworth Yes, all are included and I did just now verified that all the vaults are included when syncing over wi-fi.

  • @golucid All righty then! You're all set. :) Just sync things and your data should move over nicely. Let us know if you have any other questions.

@penderworth The problem is, it does not sync the other two vaults. It syncs one vault 1x only. Then I guess, I have to each time, delete syncing, terminate the app, relaunch app, re-link app to wifi. What does work is delete the database and re-sync all data. Also, I am running an older edition of the App on my iPhone too and that syncs flawlessly. Any ETA when you guys might fix the wifi issue?

  • @golucid Ah, thanks for the full explanation. You do seem to have hit this bug. :( Sorry about that. I don't have a timeline for when it will be fixed, but I'll definitely forward your feedback on it to our developers. Thanks for letting us know what's happening.

After testing a couple of days I'm sorry to report the bug still occurs. WIFI sync between iPhone and Mac fails.

The only workaround to have WIFI sync working is disable WIFI sync in iOS, quit the app, relaunch the app, set up again WIFI sync. And it will work till something breaks.

Hopefully the update @brenty was mentioning will fix it.

  • Thanks for letting us know, @giusep71. Our developers are still hard at work on this one.

Hi, for the time being I switched over to Dropbox sync. WIFI sync is too much drama at the moment.

    Thanks for the help

  • Fair enough. :) If Dropbox works for you that is great, but of course there will be folks that can't / won't use Dropbox so we'll want to get this fixed up.

@penderworth The option to roll back to an earlier version of you software seems a reasonable request. May I ask why this is not an option? I fully understand it is not reasonable to expect every software update to be just perfect. But for those of us that over the years have become dependent on your product, a roll back doesn't seem out of ordinary. Is there any way you and your team can discuss this as an alternative to your loyal and faithful customers?

  • Hi @golucid,

It isn't us that disallows it, it is Apple. The App Store doesn't provide a mechanism for downloading / installing older versions of any apps. I imagine part of the logic here is their keep it simple philosophy.
