  • Hey @anthonyjclarke2! What happens when you click the 1Password extension in your browser? Do you receive any errors or does it pop up normally?

All Behaves normally, I've tried a reboot / close Firefox too... also tried in Safari, same thing....
    No Errors, all seems connected....

  • @anthonyjclarke2 Very strange indeed. What happens when you try to fill a Login? To gather a bit more info on what may be happening, could you please create a Diagnostics Report from your Mac?

Attach the Diagnostics Report to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Once you send the email, post back here with the BitBot confirmation number you receive a few minutes after sending. That will help us connect the dots. :)

Hi, back now, created and sent the diagnostic report....
Confirmation number : support ID is [#HKR-24973-229].
Luckily I went travelling with a MacBook with 1P v5 so all working, need to get this iMac 1P v6 issue sorted! :)

  • Hi @anthonyjclarke2 ,

Sorry you are having trouble with filling logins.

Can you please check the version number of the extension in Safari? You can do this in the Safari Preferences under Extensions. It should be 5.4.2.

If it is an older version, please Quit Safari and go to the 1Password app and choose `Install Browser Extensions" from the 1Password menu. Do not choose the update from the Safari extensions preferences. Apple's Safari Extension Gallery has not yet published the newest version so it won't update.

If it is version 5.4.2, let us know and we can investigate further.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Hi, firstly my Log I sent was when using Firefox..... but I have gone to Safari AND Firefox and the extension is 5.4.2 in both....

  • Hi @anthonyjclarke2 ,

I see lars responded to your email. Have you tried the 5.4.3 extension, and restarted 1Password mini? Let us know how that works out.

    Regards,
    Kevin

I have 5.4.3..... no change.... and when I try to use the Website reporting facility, I get "
    Oops, something went wrong.

    Please make sure that you:

attempt to fill an item first and then report the issue second.
use the Report Website Issue option in the 1Password extension or in 1Password mini.
update to the most recent version of 1Password for Mac or 1Password for Windows Beta.

To learn more, please check out our guide on reporting website filling issues.

@anthonyjclarke2: The website issue reporting will not work unless you fill something first. Please do the following:

    1. Uninstall the 1Password extension.
    2. Restart your Mac
    3. Install a fresh copy of the extension
    4. Try to fill a login

It sounds like you've tried clicking, but have you tried the keyboard shortcut as well (⌘ \)? Please let me know what you find. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)

Done, filled in a report for my commbank.com.au autofill that's not any more since going to 6.01.

Is there any way to go back to 5.x?

    Hi @anthonyjclarke2,

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having troubles since the update to 1Password 6. I'm confident that we can get 1Password 6 working for you so that there's no need to revert to 5, although we can use that as a last resort if necessary.

If you're having trouble with a particular Login, have you tried Saving a New Login Manually? If your bank has recently changed their website, 1Password may need to relearn the fields that it needs to fill. If that doesn't help, we'd be happy to investigate further. :)

Hi, i have over 500 logins saved, this is the same behavior for ALL logins, not just my bank... so 1P asking me to save a new login each time... not really practical... so its not just isolated to the bank login... I really dont want to fill up my 1P store with duplicates....
I sent a web / fillin report, has this been looked at?

@anthonyjclarke2: Perhaps not, but it seems to be isolated to your system. Lars replied to you via email past week. Were you able to try his suggestion to disable Preferences > Browser > "Automatically submit logins after filling", quit 1Password (⌘ ⌃ Q), and then open it again and enable "Automatically submit" again. Did you try the reinstall and keyboard shortcut I suggested? It just isn't clear what you've tried and what the results have been.

Done, filled in a report for my commbank.com.au autofill that's not any more since going to 6.01.

To be clear, 1Password does not autofill; rather, it only takes an action when you tell it to. That said, I was able to create a functional login item using the method Megan suggested in her previous post.
In many cases manually saving a new login for the site will allow 1Password to save additional information from the form. Just try these steps to save the login manually:

    1. Navigate to the website's login page: https://www.my.commbank.com.au/netbank/Logon/Logon.aspx
    2. Enter your login credentials
    3. Click the 'keyhole' icon to bring up the extension
    4. Click the 'gear' icon for Settings
    5. Click Save New Login
    6. Give it a name and Save
    7. Close the webpage and select your new login from the extension to have 1Password Go & Fill
    8. Submit the form manually if you have autosumbit disabled

Please let me know your results. We'll get this sorted out! :)

Thanks @brenty... yes, I tried Lars suggestion, made no difference....

I understand and misused the word "autofill", I meant "find the login details, and present to me to select fill"....

You are suggesting, if I am right, that I need to go through ALL my existing logins and re-save them...

Dont get me wrong, 1P works when I go to a new site, save a new login, and then when I return to the site, it "shows" the login for that newly created (1P 6.x) site.

My issue is that I really dont want to have to fully create my logins for my 500+ existing logins, nor duplicate them...

As an aside, this frustration led me to "try" Lastpass in a "cleanroom", that imported all my logins, and this works 100%..

I really want to fix this.... and not "change"....

    Thanks

You are suggesting, if I am right, that I need to go through ALL my existing logins and re-save them...

@anthonyjclarke2: No, I wasn't. I was suggesting that you try this as a test to determine if the extension itself simply isn't working at all on your system, or if it is possible for it to work correctly for you. I have no idea if that's the case, only that I was able to save a login for the site myself and use it in less than a minute. It's important that we eliminate possible causes to narrow things down, so I appreciate you getting back to me!

I'm really sorry that you're having so much trouble with this. There's probably outdated information there now, but I was going over the diagnostics again to see if there was anything else that could provide a clue about your predicament. I'd love to get a fresh diagnostics report from you, but I do have one question: do you have 1Password mini running? Please enable Preferences > General > "Always keep 1Password mini running", and let me know if that makes a difference for you. We'll got this working one way or another. :)

@brenty No problem, I get it... happy to help diagnose all I can... I've been a 1P user since the beginning almost, and want it working again!

So, Yes, I can save logins, that works fine.... just that its "ignoring" ones that already exist :)

Yes, I do have 1Password Mini Running....that has been the case all the time....

I'll run another diagnostic report..... just sent....

    Hi @anthonyjclarke2,

We received your new diagnostics report; thanks for sending that in. About this one issue:

so 1P asking me to save a new login each time

Does that still happen after you disable Automatically ask to save new Logins under Browser Preferences? It's something we'd like you to test to help better understand where the problem is, not a permanent solution.

Thanks for your help and patience with troubleshooting these issues you're having.

Hi, no... if I turn that off then i'm not asked for a new one...
When the Browser plugin opens, it does not find any of my logins (unless I've saved them as new in 1P v6.x)... so if I search for one, select it.. it then opens up a new tab in Firefox and enters the login details...

Thanks for checking that, @anthonyjclarke2. You can reenable Automatically ask to save new Logins or leave it disabled for now. I'll be sending you email shortly and we'll keep the conversation going there to get this resolved.
